I want you to swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

The Lord is the God of heaven and the God of earth. I want you to make a promise to me in his name. I’m living among the people of Canaan. But I want you to promise me that you won’t get a wife for my son from their daughters.

that I may make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell,

Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth, that you will not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.

and I will have you swear by the LORD, God of heaven and God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I live,

and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell;

and I will make thee swear by Jehovah, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that thou wilt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

and I will have you swear by the Lord, God of heaven and God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I live,

And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

so that I may make you solemnly promise by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth: You must not acquire a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living.

I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.

Do not be mismatched with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness share together, or what does light have in common with darkness?Or what harmony does Christ have with Belial, or what does a believer share with an unbeliever?Or what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? so now, swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my offspring or with my descendants, but according to the kindness that I have shown to you, you shall show to me and to the land in which you have resided.”

A wife is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.

And he blessed him and said,“ Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

You shall fear only the Lord your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name.

May you be blessed of the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth.

I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.

So now come, let’s make a covenant, you and I, and it shall be a witness between you and me.”Then Jacob took a stone and set it up as a memorial stone.Jacob said to his relatives,“ Gather stones.” So they took stones and made a heap, and they ate there by the heap.Now Laban called it Jegar sahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed.Laban said,“ This heap is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore it was named Galeed,and Mizpah, for he said,“ May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are absent one from the other.If you mistreat my daughters, or if you take wives besides my daughters, although no one is with us, see, God is witness between you and me.”Laban also said to Jacob,“ Behold this heap and behold the memorial stone which I have set between you and me.This heap is a witness, and the memorial stone is a witness, that I will not pass by this heap to you for harm, and you will not pass by this heap and this memorial stone to me, for harm.The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.

( then the priest shall have the woman swear with the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman),“ may the Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people by the Lord’s making your thigh shriveled and your belly swollen;

And if you will swear,‘ As the Lord lives,’ In truth, in justice, and in righteousness; Then the nations will bless themselves in Him, And in Him they will boast.”

For people swear an oath by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath serving as confirmation is an end of every dispute.

and you might take some of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might prostitute themselves with their gods and cause your sons also to prostitute themselves with their gods.

“ You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

that the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.

Now concerning everything which I have said to you, be careful; and do not mention the name of other gods, nor let them be heard from your mouth.

And those who bow down on the housetops to the heavenly lights, And those who bow down and swear to the Lord, but also swear by Milcom,

Canaan fathered Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth,the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite,the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite,the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite were spread abroad.The territory of the Canaanite extended from Sidon going toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; and going toward Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

Because the one who is blessed on the earth Will be blessed by the God of truth; And the one who swears an oath on the earth Will swear by the God of truth; Because the former troubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My sight!

And you shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the Lord.

They said,“ We have seen plainly that the Lord has been with you; so we said,‘ An oath must now be taken by us,’ that is, by you and us. So let us make a covenant with you,that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the Lord.”Then he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.In the morning they got up early and exchanged oaths; then Isaac sent them away, and they left him in peace.
