So Abraham bought the plot of land belonging to Ephron at Machpelah, near Mamre. This included the field itself, the cave that was in it, and all the surrounding trees.

於是以弗崙田在麥比拉、在幔利前者、田與田間之穴、及田中四圍之樹、俱定與亞伯拉罕為業、

So Ephron’s field in Machpelah near Mamre— both the field and the cave in it, and all the trees within the borders of the field— was deeded

So Ephron sold his field to Abraham. The field was in Machpelah near Mamre. Abraham bought the field and the cave that was in it. He also bought all the trees that were inside the borders of the field. Everything was sold

So the field of Ephron in Machpelah, which was to the east of Mamre, the field with the cave that was in it and all the trees that were in the field, throughout its whole area, was made over

So Ephron’s field at Machpelah near Mamre— the field with its cave and all the trees anywhere within the boundaries of the field— became

So Ephron’s field, which was in Machpelah, which faced Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, that were within all the confines of its border, were deeded over

So the field of Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, which were within all the surrounding borders, were deeded

So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure

So Ephron’s field at Machpelah near Mamre— the field with its cave and all the trees anywhere within the boundaries of the field— became

And the field of Ephron, which[ was] in Machpelah, which[ was] before Mamre, the field, and the cave which[ was] therein, and all the trees that[ were] in the field, that[ were] in all the borders round about, were made sure

So Abraham secured Ephron’s field in Machpelah, next to Mamre, including the field, the cave that was in it, and all the trees that were in the field and all around its border,

So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all of its borders, were deeded

They carried his body to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre. This is the cave that Abraham had bought as a permanent burial site from Ephron the Hittite.

His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite.

So the field and the cave were transferred from the Hittites to Abraham for use as a permanent burial place.

Their bodies were taken to Shechem and buried in the tomb Abraham had bought for a certain price from Hamor’s sons in Shechem.

Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.

Now in those days it was the custom in Israel for anyone transferring a right of purchase to remove his sandal and hand it to the other party. This publicly validated the transaction.So the other family redeemer drew off his sandal as he said to Boaz,“ You buy the land.”Then Boaz said to the elders and to the crowd standing around,“ You are witnesses that today I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelech, Kilion, and Mahlon.And with the land I have acquired Ruth, the Moabite widow of Mahlon, to be my wife. This way she can have a son to carry on the family name of her dead husband and to inherit the family property here in his hometown. You are all witnesses today.”

“ Your cousin Hanamel son of Shallum will come and say to you,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else.’”Then, just as the Lord had said he would, my cousin Hanamel came and visited me in the prison. He said,“ Please buy my field at Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. By law you have the right to buy it before it is offered to anyone else, so buy it for yourself.” Then I knew that the message I had heard was from the Lord.So I bought the field at Anathoth, paying Hanamel seventeen pieces of silver for it.I signed and sealed the deed of purchase before witnesses, weighed out the silver, and paid him.Then I took the sealed deed and an unsealed copy of the deed, which contained the terms and conditions of the purchase,and I handed them to Baruch son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah. I did all this in the presence of my cousin Hanamel, the witnesses who had signed the deed, and all the men of Judah who were there in the courtyard of the guardhouse.Then I said to Baruch as they all listened,“ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:‘ Take both this sealed deed and the unsealed copy, and put them into a pottery jar to preserve them for a long time.’

Then Jacob instructed them,“ Soon I will die and join my ancestors. Bury me with my father and grandfather in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite.This is the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in Canaan, that Abraham bought from Ephron the Hittite as a permanent burial site.There Abraham and his wife Sarah are buried. There Isaac and his wife, Rebekah, are buried. And there I buried Leah.It is the plot of land and the cave that my grandfather Abraham bought from the Hittites.”

“ Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.

Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.
