Ephron was sitting among the Hethites. So in the hearing of all the Hethites who came to the gate of his city, Ephron the Hethite answered Abraham:

以弗崙、赫族也、時、坐於赫人中、於入邑門之赫人前、謂亞伯拉罕曰、

以弗崙赫人也、於邑民及入是邑者前、對亞伯拉罕曰、

時、以弗崙坐於赫族人中、赫族人以弗崙遂於入邑門之赫族人前、謂亞伯拉罕曰、

Ephron the Hittite was sitting among his people and he replied to Abraham in the hearing of all the Hittites who had come to the gate of his city.

Ephron the Hittite was sitting there among his people. He replied to Abraham. All of the Hittites who had come to the gate of his city heard him.

Now Ephron was sitting among the Hittites, and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the Hittites, of all who went in at the gate of his city,

Ephron was sitting there among the others, and he answered Abraham as the others listened, speaking publicly before all the Hittite elders of the town.

Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham so that the sons of Heth heard, that is, all who entered the gate of his city, saying,

Now Ephron dwelt among the sons of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the presence of the sons of Heth, all who entered at the gate of his city, saying,

Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

Ephron was sitting among the Hittites. So in the presence of all the Hittites who came to the gate of his city, Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham:

And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth,[ even] of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

( Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth.) Ephron the Hethite replied to Abraham in the hearing of the sons of Heth– before all who entered the gate of his city–

Now Ephron was sitting in the middle of the children of Heth. Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,

All the men who had come to the city gates listened to Hamor and his son Shechem, and all those men were circumcised.

So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city.

Abraham’s possession in the sight of all the Hethites who came to the gate of his city.

So he got into a boat, crossed over, and came to his own town.

Boaz went to the gate of the town and sat down there. Soon the family redeemer Boaz had spoken about came by. Boaz said,“ Come over here and sit down.” So he went over and sat down.Then Boaz took ten men of the town’s elders and said,“ Sit here.” And they sat down.He said to the redeemer,“ Naomi, who has returned from the territory of Moab, is selling the portion of the field that belonged to our brother Elimelech.I thought I should inform you: Buy it back in the presence of those seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you want to redeem it, do it. But if you do not want to redeem it, tell me so that I will know, because there isn’t anyone other than you to redeem it, and I am next after you.”“ I want to redeem it,” he answered.

a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment, and strength to those who repel attacks at the city gate.

When I went out to the city gate and took my seat in the town square,
