因着信，亚伯拉罕蒙召的时候，就顺从出发，往他将要得为继业的地方去。他出发的时候，还不知道往哪里去。

于是亚伯拉罕清早起来，拿了饼和一皮袋水，交给夏甲，放在她的肩膀上，又把孩子交给了她，然后送她走。她就走了，在比尔-谢巴的旷野中漂流。

那靠着你心意坚定的，你会守护他完全平安，因为他依靠你。你们当依靠耶和华，直到永远，因为神耶和华是永恒的磐石！

彼得就对耶稣说：“看，我们舍弃一切跟从了你！”耶稣说：“我确实地告诉你们：无论谁为我的缘故、为福音的缘故而舍弃房屋，或兄弟，或姐妹，或母亲，或父亲，或儿女，或田产，都必定在今世得到百倍，就是房屋、兄弟、姐妹、母亲、儿女和田产，也会有逼迫；但在来世得到永恒的生命。不过许多在前的，将要在后；许多在后的，将要在前。”

“那爱父亲或母亲过于爱我的，不配属于我；那爱儿子或女儿过于爱我的，不配属于我；

凡是你手当做的，你都当极力去做；因为在你必去的阴间没有工作，没有筹划，没有知识，也没有智慧。

因着信，亚伯拉罕在受考验的时候，献上了以撒；这位领受了各样应许的人，献上了自己的独生儿子——关于这儿子，神曾经说过：“从以撒生的，将被称为你的后裔。”亚伯拉罕认为，神真的能使人从死人中复活。故此，用比喻来说，他真的从死人中得回了以撒。

于是就在那一天，亚伯拉罕照着神向他所说的，叫来他的儿子以实玛利和家中所有的男子，无论是在他家里出生的，还是用银子买来的，都割去了他们肉体上的包皮。
