I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.

I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,

So I will certainly bless you. I will make the children born into your family as many as the stars in the sky. I will make them as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. They will take over the cities of their enemies.

I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,

They blessed Rebekah with these words:“ Our sister, may you become the mother of thousands of ten thousands! May your descendants possess the strongholds of their enemies.”

I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.

I will make the children who follow one another in the line of my servant David very numerous. I will also make the Levites who minister before me very numerous. I will make them all as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sands which are on the seashore.’”

Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your personal property.You will break them with an iron scepter; you will smash them like a potter’s jar!’”

The LORD your God has increased your population to the point that you are now as numerous as the very stars of the sky.

After Moses the LORD’s servant died, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant:“ Moses my servant is dead. Get ready! Cross the Jordan River! Lead these people into the land which I am ready to hand over to them.I am handing over to you every place you set foot, as I promised Moses.Your territory will extend from the wilderness in the south to Lebanon in the north. It will extend all the way to the great River Euphrates in the east( including all of Syria) and all the way to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.No one will be able to resist you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not abandon you or leave you alone.Be strong and brave! You must lead these people in the conquest of this land that I solemnly promised their ancestors I would hand over to them.Make sure you are very strong and brave! Carefully obey all the law my servant Moses charged you to keep! Do not swerve from it to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful in all you do.This law scroll must not leave your lips! You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.I repeat, be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, for I, the LORD your God, am with you in all you do.”Joshua instructed the leaders of the people:

May he rule from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth!Before him the coastlands will bow down, and his enemies will lick the dust.

‘ I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not close at hand. A star will march forth out of Jacob, and a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the skulls of Moab, and the heads of all the sons of Sheth.Edom will be a possession, Seir, his enemies, will also be a possession; but Israel will act valiantly.A ruler will be established from Jacob; he will destroy the remains of the city.’”

But you said,‘ I will certainly make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand on the seashore, too numerous to count.’”

Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven saying:“ The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.”

All these blessings will come to you in abundance if you obey the LORD your God:You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the field.Your children will be blessed, as well as the produce of your soil, the offspring of your livestock, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.Your basket and your mixing bowl will be blessed.You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.The LORD will cause your enemies who attack you to be struck down before you; they will attack you from one direction but flee from you in seven different directions.The LORD will decree blessing for you with respect to your barns and in everything you do– yes, he will bless you in the land he is giving you.The LORD will designate you as his holy people just as he promised you, if you keep his commandments and obey him.Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you belong to the LORD, and they will respect you.The LORD will greatly multiply your children, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil in the land which he promised your ancestors he would give you.The LORD will open for you his good treasure house, the heavens, to give you rain for the land in its season and to bless all you do; you will lend to many nations but you will not borrow from any.The LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always end up at the top and not at the bottom, if you obey his commandments which I am urging you today to be careful to do.

“ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, because he has come to help and has redeemed his people.For he has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago,that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us.He has done this to show mercy to our ancestors, and to remember his holy covenant–the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham. This oath grantsthat we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, may serve him without fear,in holiness and righteousness before him for as long as we live.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

because of the God of your father, who will help you, because of the sovereign God, who will bless you with blessings from the sky above, blessings from the deep that lies below, and blessings of the breasts and womb.The blessings of your father are greater than the blessings of the eternal mountains or the desirable things of the age-old hills. They will be on the head of Joseph and on the brow of the prince of his brothers.

May God give you the dew of the sky and the richness of the earth, and plenty of grain and new wine.May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. You will be lord over your brothers, and the sons of your mother will bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed, and those who bless you be blessed.”

Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.

You kept the promise that you swore on oath to their ancestors. You gave them a land flowing with milk and honey.

May the sovereign God bless you! May he make you fruitful and give you a multitude of descendants! Then you will become a large nation.

Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.

King Solomon also built ships in Ezion Geber, which is located near Elat in the land of Edom, on the shore of the Red Sea.

Later David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. David took Metheg Ammah from the Philistines.He defeated the Moabites. He made them lie on the ground and then used a rope to measure them off. He put two-thirds of them to death and spared the other third. The Moabites became David’s subjects and brought tribute.David defeated King Hadadezer son of Rehob of Zobah when he came to reestablish his authority over the Euphrates River.David seized from him 1,700 charioteers and 20,000 infantrymen. David cut the hamstrings of all but a hundred of the chariot horses.The Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, but David killed 22,000 of the Arameans.David placed garrisons in the territory of the Arameans of Damascus; the Arameans became David’s subjects and brought tribute. The LORD protected David wherever he campaigned.David took the golden shields that belonged to Hadadezer’s servants and brought them to Jerusalem.From Tebah and Berothai, Hadadezer’s cities, King David took a great deal of bronze.When King Toi of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,he sent his son Joram to King David to extend his best wishes and to pronounce a blessing on him for his victory over Hadadezer, for Toi had been at war with Hadadezer. He brought with him various items made of silver, gold, and bronze.King David dedicated these things to the LORD, along with the dedicated silver and gold that he had taken from all the nations that he had subdued,including Aram, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amelek. This also included some of the plunder taken from King Hadadezer son of Rehob of Zobah.David became famous when he returned from defeating the Arameans in the Valley of Salt, he defeated 18,000 in all.He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s subjects. The LORD protected David wherever he campaigned.David reigned over all Israel; he guaranteed justice for all his people.Joab son of Zeruiah was general in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was secretary;Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Seraiah was scribe;Benaiah son of Jehoida supervised the Kerithites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.

I will make you extremely fruitful. I will make nations of you, and kings will descend from you.

his father and mother must seize him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his city.

For Samaria’s disease is incurable. It has infected Judah; it has spread to the leadership of my people and has even contaminated Jerusalem!

Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using your name and that of your descendants.I am with you! I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you!”Then Jacob woke up and thought,“ Surely the LORD is in this place, but I did not realize it!”He was afraid and said,“ What an awesome place this is! This is nothing else than the house of God! This is the gate of heaven!”Early in the morning Jacob took the stone he had placed near his head and set it up as a sacred stone. Then he poured oil on top of it.He called that place Bethel, although the former name of the town was Luz.Then Jacob made a vow, saying,“ If God is with me and protects me on this journey I am taking and gives me food to eat and clothing to wear,and I return safely to my father’s home, then the LORD will become my God.Then this stone that I have set up as a sacred stone will be the house of God, and I will surely give you back a tenth of everything you give me.”

Later the king of the Ammonites died and his son Hanun succeeded him.David said,“ I will express my loyalty to Hanun son of Nahash just as his father was loyal to me.” So David sent his servants with a message expressing sympathy over his father’s death. When David’s servants entered the land of the Ammonites,the Ammonite officials said to their lord Hanun,“ Do you really think David is trying to honor your father by sending these messengers to express his sympathy? No, David has sent his servants to you to get information about the city and spy on it so they can overthrow it!”So Hanun seized David’s servants and shaved off half of each one’s beard. He cut the lower part of their robes off so that their buttocks were exposed, and then sent them away.Messengers told David what had happened, so he summoned them, for the men were thoroughly humiliated. The king said,“ Stay in Jericho until your beards have grown again; then you may come back.”When the Ammonites realized that David was disgusted with them, they sent and hired 20,000 foot soldiers from Aram Beth Rehob and Aram Zobah, in addition to 1,000 men from the king of Maacah and 12,000 men from Ish-tob.When David heard the news, he sent Joab and the entire army to meet them.The Ammonites marched out and were deployed for battle at the entrance of the city gate, while the men from Aram Zobah, Rehob, Ish-tob, and Maacah were by themselves in the field.When Joab saw that the battle would be fought on two fronts, he chose some of Israel’s best men and deployed them against the Arameans.He put his brother Abishai in charge of the rest of the army and they were deployed against the Ammonites.Joab said,“ If the Arameans start to overpower me, you come to my rescue. If the Ammonites start to overpower you, I will come to your rescue.Be strong! Let’s fight bravely for the sake of our people and the cities of our God! The LORD will do what he decides is best!”So Joab and his men marched out to do battle with the Arameans, and they fled before him.When the Ammonites saw the Arameans flee, they fled before his brother Abishai and went into the city. Joab withdrew from fighting the Ammonites and returned to Jerusalem.When the Arameans realized that they had been defeated by Israel, they consolidated their forces.Then Hadadezer sent for Arameans from beyond the Euphrates River, and they came to Helam. Shobach, the general in command of Hadadezer’s army, led them.When David was informed, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan River, and came to Helam. The Arameans deployed their forces against David and fought with him.The Arameans fled before Israel. David killed 700 Aramean charioteers and 40,000 foot soldiers. He also struck down Shobach, the general in command of the army, who died there.When all the kings who were subject to Hadadezer saw they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and became subjects of Israel. The Arameans were no longer willing to help the Ammonites.

In the days of those kings the God of heaven will raise up an everlasting kingdom that will not be destroyed and a kingdom that will not be left to another people. It will break in pieces and bring about the demise of all these kingdoms. But it will stand forever.You saw that a stone was cut from a mountain, but not by human hands; it smashed the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold into pieces. The great God has made known to the king what will occur in the future. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is reliable.”
