Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba.

凡你的手能做的，都要盡力去做，因為在你要去的陰間沒有工作，沒有計劃，也沒有知識和智慧。

以色列帶著他所有的一切來到別示巴，向他父親以撒的上帝獻祭。

清早高聲為鄰舍祝福，無異於咒詛他。

有人見他在田野走迷了路，就問他：「你在找什麼？」

他趁自己還在世的時候，把一些禮物送給他的妾所生的兒子們，讓他們離開他的兒子以撒到東方去。

第二天早晨，以撒和他們互相起誓之後，送他們平安地離去。

以掃帶著他在迦南所得的妻子、兒女和家中所有的人員，以及所有的牲畜和財產離開雅各，遷往別處。以掃和雅各兩家的財產和牲畜太多，那地方不夠他們住，

他們在曠野中飄泊，居無定所，

以撒便稱那口井為示巴，因此那城叫別示巴，沿用至今。

婢女的兒子是按著人的意願生的，主母的兒子是按著上帝的應許生的。這些事都有更深的含義，兩個婦人是指兩個約。夏甲代表頒佈於西奈山的約，她所生的孩子是奴僕。這夏甲指的是阿拉伯的西奈山，相當於現今的耶路撒冷，她和她的兒女都是奴僕。

亞伯拉罕清早起來，準備好驢，劈好獻燔祭用的柴，帶著兩個僕人和兒子以撒動身前往上帝指示他的地方。

因為希實本的農田荒廢，西比瑪的葡萄樹枯萎。各國的君王都來踐踏這些上好的葡萄樹。它們的枝子曾經伸展到雅謝和曠野，嫩枝一直蔓延到死海。

所以，那地方被稱為別示巴，因為他們二人在那裡起了誓。

亞伯拉罕在別示巴栽了一棵紅柳，又在那裡呼求耶和華——永恆上帝的名。

亞伯拉罕清早起來，走到他從前站在耶和華面前的地方，

奴隸不能永遠留在主人的家裡，只有兒子才可以。

我毫不遲疑地遵守你的命令。

耶和華的天使在曠野中通往書珥之路的水泉旁找到了夏甲，

以利亞很害怕，連忙逃命，來到猶大的別示巴。他讓僕人留在那裡，

於是，亞伯拉罕回到僕人等候的地方，他們一同返回亞伯拉罕居住的別示巴。

老總管和隨行的人用過晚飯以後，在那裡住了一夜。第二天早晨，老總管說：「請讓我返回我主人那裡。」
