Then Abraham said,“ Since I have dared to speak to the Lord, let me continue— suppose there are only twenty?” And the Lord replied,“ Then I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty.”

亚伯拉罕说：“我还敢对主说话，假若在那里见有二十个怎么样呢？”他说：“为这二十个的缘故，我也不毁灭那城。”

亚伯拉罕说：“看哪，我还敢向主说，假若在那里找到二十个呢？”他说：“为这二十个的缘故，我也不毁灭。”

亚伯拉罕说：“看哪，我还敢向主说，假若在那里找到二十个呢？”他说：“为这二十个的缘故，我也不毁灭。”

亚伯拉罕说：“我大胆再问一次，倘若在那里只找到二十个义人呢？”耶和华说：“为了那二十个人的缘故，我也不会毁灭那城。”

亚伯拉罕说：“我再大胆地对我主说，假如在那里找到二十个呢？”他回答：“我因这二十个的缘故，也不毁灭那城。”

亚伯拉罕又说：“看哪，我再次斗胆向我主说，假如在那里找到二十个呢？”耶和华说：“因这二十个的缘故，我也不会毁灭那城。”

亞伯拉罕又說：「看哪，我再次斗膽向我主說，假如在那裡找到二十個呢？」耶和華說：「因這二十個的緣故，我也不會毀滅那城。」

曰、敢告於主、假令二十人、則何如、曰、緣二十人、我亦不滅、

曰我敢上告、浸假二十人、則何如。曰、二十人、我亦不滅。

曰、我敢告主、若邑中遇二十人則何如、曰、緣二十人我亦不滅、

Abraham said,“ Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?” He said,“ For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.”

Abraham said,“ I have been very bold to speak to the Lord. What if only 20 can be found there?” He said,“ If I find 20, I will not destroy it.”

He said,“ Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered,“ For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.”

Then he said,“ Since I have ventured to speak to my lord, suppose twenty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it on account of twenty.”

And he said,“ Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord; suppose twenty are found there?” And He said,“ I will not destroy it on account of the twenty.”

And he said,“ Indeed now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose twenty should be found there?” So He said,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.”

And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.

Then he said,“ Since I have ventured to speak to the Lord, suppose 20 are found there?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it on account of 20.”

And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy[ it] for twenty’s sake.

Abraham said,“ Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty are found there?” He replied,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty.”

He said,“ See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?” He said,“ I will not destroy it for the twenty’s sake.”

Then Abraham spoke again.“ Since I have begun, let me speak further to my Lord, even though I am but dust and ashes.

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

“ Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

By his death, Jesus opened a new and life giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house,let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

But I tell you this— though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.
