只是没有孩子，因为以利沙伯不生育，二人又都上了年纪。

在他没有盼望的时候，仍然怀着盼望去信，因此就成了万国的父，正如神所说：“你的后裔将要这样众多。”他快到一百岁的时候，想到自己的身体好像已经死了，撒拉也不能生育，他的信心还是不软弱，也没有因着不信而疑惑神的应许，反倒坚信不移，把荣耀归给神，满心相信神所应许的，神必能成就。

撒迦利亚对天使说：“我怎么能知道这事呢？我已经老了，我妻子也上了年纪。”

你看，你亲戚以利沙伯，被称为不生育的，在老年也怀了男胎，现在已是第六个月了，

亚伯拉罕九十九岁的时候，割去了他身上的包皮。

亚伯拉罕认定，神能使人从死人中复活，因此，就喻意说，他的确从死里得回他的儿子。

拉结对她父亲说：“求我主不要生气，我不能在你面前起来，因为我正有女人的经期。”这样，拉班彻底搜查了，也搜不出那神像来。
