罗得举目，看见约旦河整个平原，直到琐珥，都是水源充足之地。在耶和华未毁灭所多玛、蛾摩拉以前，那地好像耶和华的园子，又像埃及地。

迦南的疆界是从西顿到基拉耳，直到迦萨，又到所多玛、蛾摩拉、押玛、洗扁，直到拉沙。

遍地都被硫磺和盐所侵蚀，不能耕种，没有出产，连草都长不出来，好像耶和华在怒气和愤怒中所倾覆的所多玛、蛾摩拉、押玛、洗扁一样，

有哀声从希实本达到以利亚利，他们发的哀声达到雅杂；从琐珥达到何罗念，达到伊基拉‧施利施亚，因为宁林的水必然干涸。

一队往伯‧和仑去，一队往边界，下望朝着旷野的洗波音谷。

以法莲哪，我怎能舍弃你？以色列啊，我怎能弃绝你？我怎能使你如押玛？怎能使你如洗扁？我回心转意，我的怜悯燃了起来。

我的心为摩押哀号；它的难民逃到琐珥，逃到伊基拉‧施利施亚。他们上鲁希坡，随走随哭，在何罗念的路上，因毁灭发出哀声。

看哪，这城又近又小，比较容易逃到那里。这不是一座小城吗？求你容我逃到那里，使我的性命可以存活。”天使对他说：“看哪，这事我也应允你，不倾覆你所说的这城。你要赶快逃到那城，因为你还没有到那里，我不能做什么。”因此那城名叫琐珥。罗得到了琐珥，太阳已经升出地面。当时，耶和华把硫磺与火，从天上耶和华那里降与所多玛和蛾摩拉，把那些城和全平原，城里所有的居民和土地上生长的，都毁灭了。罗得的妻子在他后边回头一看，就变成了一根盐柱。亚伯拉罕清早起来，到了他先前站在耶和华面前的地方，面向所多玛和蛾摩拉，以及平原全地观望。他观看，看哪，那地有浓烟上腾，好像烧窑的浓烟。当神毁灭平原诸城的时候，他记念亚伯拉罕；在倾覆罗得所住之城的时候，就把罗得从倾覆中带出来。罗得因为怕住在琐珥，就同他两个女儿从琐珥上去，住在山上。他和两个女儿住在一个洞里。

若不是万军之耶和华为我们留下一些幸存者，我们早已变成所多玛，像蛾摩拉一样了。所多玛的官长啊，你们要听耶和华的言语！蛾摩拉的百姓啊，要侧耳听我们神的教诲！
