以色列對他說：“你去看看你的哥哥們是不是平安，羊群是不是平安，就回來告訴我。”於是打發他離開希伯崙谷，他就到示劍去了。

他們上到南地，到了希伯崙，在那裡有亞衲族人的後裔亞希幔、示篩、撻買。原來希伯崙城比埃及的瑣安城早建七年。

我常常把耶和華擺在我面前，因他在我右邊，我必不會動搖。

撒拉死在迦南地的基列．亞巴，就是希伯崙；亞伯拉罕進去為撒拉哀慟哭號。

也是他築頭一座祭壇的地方，亞伯蘭就在那裡求告耶和華的名。

因此，我願意男人沒有忿怒，沒有爭論，舉起聖潔的手隨處禱告。

於是約書亞給迦勒祝福，把希伯崙賜給了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒作產業。
