因為承繼產業若是由於律法，便不是由於應許；但上帝恩賜亞伯拉罕、卻是憑着應許的。

因为承受产业，若本乎律法，就不本乎应许；但神是凭着应许，把产业赐给亚伯拉罕。

For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

The great gift that God has for us does not depend on the law. If it did, it would no longer depend on the promise. But God gave it to Abraham as a free gift through a promise.

For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

不至於懈怠，倒能效法那些憑信心與恆忍來承受應許的人。上帝在應許亞伯拉罕的時候，因沒有比自己更大的可以指着來起誓，就指着自己來起誓說：『我敢保我一定要給你祝福，我一定要使你的子孫增多』。照這話、亞伯拉罕既能恆忍等待，就得了所應許的。

向亞伯拉罕或他後裔發的那應許、使他承受得世界為產業的、並不是憑着律法，乃是憑着信心而稱的義。假使本着律法的人才是承受產業的，那麼信就落了空，應許也就失效了。因為律法能使上帝的義怒起作用；哪裏沒有律法，哪裏就沒有犯法的事。就是因為這個緣故、所以才本着信、要使應許確定，按照恩典、給予一切後裔，不但給予那本着律法的人，也給予那本着亞伯拉罕之信的人。

以便向我們列祖實施憐憫，記念他的聖約，就是他對我們祖亞伯拉罕起誓，

有哪一位神能比得上你、赦免罪孽、不追究你產業之餘民的過犯呢？他不永遠懷怒，因為他喜悅堅愛。他必再憐憫我們，將我們的罪孽踹在腳下，將我們一切的罪投於海的深處。你必向雅各顯為可信可靠，必向亞伯拉罕施堅固的愛，就是古時日子你向我們列祖所起誓應許的。

既是兒女，便是後嗣：是上帝的後嗣，和基督同做後嗣，如果我們和他一同受苦、的話；那是要使我們也和他同得榮耀。

我不廢棄上帝的恩；稱義的事若是憑着律法可得，基督就白死了。

你們眾人憑着信、在基督耶穌裏、都是上帝的兒子。

諸應許原是向亞伯拉罕和他的一個後裔說的。不是說「和眾後裔」、像指着許多人說的，乃是說「和你的一個後裔」、指着一個人說的；那一個人就是基督啊。

因為他記得他的聖諾言跟他的僕人亞伯拉罕。

凡以行律法為本的都在被咒詛之下；因為經上記着說：『凡不持守律法書上所記的一切去行的人都被咒詛。』

你們如果是屬基督的，那你們就是亞伯拉罕的後裔，照應許做後嗣了。

律法原不是本於信的，它乃是說：『凡行這些法的，必靠着這些法而活着。』

他扶助了他的僕人以色列，來記念自己的憐憫、就是向亞伯拉罕和他後裔所施到永遠，照主自己對我們列祖所說過的。』
