As for those who were held in high esteem— whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism— they added nothing to my message.

Some people in Jerusalem were thought to be important. But it makes no difference to me what they were. God does not treat people differently. Those people added nothing to my message.

And from those who seemed to be influential( what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)— those, I say, who seemed influential added nothing to me.

And the leaders of the church had nothing to add to what I was preaching.( By the way, their reputation as great leaders made no difference to me, for God has no favorites.)

Now from those recognized as important( what they once were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism)— they added nothing to me.

But from those who were of considerable repute( what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no favoritism)— well, those who were of repute contributed nothing to me.

But from those who seemed to be something— whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man— for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me.

But from those who were reputed to be important— whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn’t show partiality to man— they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

Then Peter opened[ his] mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.

For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.

For there is no respect of persons with God.

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that[ is] unprofitable for you.

I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold,( I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.Are they Hebrews? so[ am] I. Are they Israelites? so[ am] I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so[ am] I.Are they ministers of Christ?( I speak as a fool) I[ am] more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.

And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning[ here] in fear:

And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I[ am] young, and ye[ are] very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any[ man]: for thou regardest not the person of men.

[ How much less to him] that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all[ are] the work of his hands.

Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of[ their] conversation.

Fare ye well.

For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her.For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

[ I said], I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.Behold, my belly[ is] as wine[ which] hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.For I know not to give flattering titles;[ in so doing] my maker would soon take me away.

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we[ him] no more.

And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person[ of any], but teachest the way of God truly:

And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we[ should go] unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.Only[ they would] that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before[ them] all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
