Here is the answer they gave us. They said,“ We serve the God of heaven and earth. We are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago. The great King Solomon built it and finished it.

And this was their reply to us:‘ We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the house that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.

“ This was their answer:‘ We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the Temple that was built here many years ago by a great king of Israel.

He answered,“ I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the Lord.The temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits long, twenty wide and thirty high.The portico at the front of the main hall of the temple extended the width of the temple, that is twenty cubits, and projected ten cubits from the front of the temple.He made narrow windows high up in the temple walls.Against the walls of the main hall and inner sanctuary he built a structure around the building, in which there were side rooms.The lowest floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits and the third floor seven. He made offset ledges around the outside of the temple so that nothing would be inserted into the temple walls.In building the temple, only blocks dressed at the quarry were used, and no hammer, chisel or any other iron tool was heard at the temple site while it was being built.

“ Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.He began building on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.The foundation Solomon laid for building the temple of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide( using the cubit of the old standard).The portico at the front of the temple was twenty cubits long across the width of the building and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold.He paneled the main hall with juniper and covered it with fine gold and decorated it with palm tree and chain designs.

“ I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.
