敵國於猶大族建殿時則阻之、使畏難而止。

自此、斯地居民、使猶大之民心灰、恐喝之、俾止工不建、

Then the peoples around them set out to discourage the people of Judah and make them afraid to go on building.

But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, they were very angry;and they all conspired together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion among us.

Our adversaries said,“ They will not know or see, until we come in among them and kill them, and cause the work to cease.”

Strengthen the weak hands, and make the feeble knees firm.Tell those who have a fearful heart,“ Be strong! Don’t be afraid! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, God’s retribution. He will come and save you.

For they all would have made us afraid, saying,“ Their hands will be weakened from the work, that it not be done.” But now, strengthen my hands.
