大流士王第二年六月初一，耶和华的话藉哈该先知向撒拉铁的儿子犹大省长所罗巴伯和约撒答的儿子约书亚大祭司传讲，说：

同样，女执事也必须庄重，不说闲话，有节制，凡事忠心。

我在耶路撒冷的先知中曾见恐怖的事；他们犯奸淫，行虚谎，又坚固恶人的手，无人回转离开自己的恶行。他们在我面前都像所多玛，耶路撒冷的居民都像蛾摩拉。

以利年纪老迈，听见他两个儿子对以色列众人所做一切的事，又听见他们与会幕门前伺候的妇人同寝，就对他们说：“你们为何做这样的事呢？我从这众百姓听见了你们的恶行。我儿啊，不可这样！我听到耶和华的百姓传出你们不好的名声。

耶书亚生约雅金，约雅金生以利亚实，以利亚实生耶何耶大，

你们却偏离正道，使许多人在这训诲上绊跌。你们破坏了我与利未人所立的约。这是万军之耶和华说的。所以我使你们被众百姓藐视，看为卑贱；因你们不遵守我的道，在律法上看人的情面。”

连先知带祭司都是亵渎的，就是在我殿中，我也看见他们的恶行。这是耶和华说的。

亚撒利雅生西莱雅；西莱雅生约萨答。当耶和华藉尼布甲尼撒的手掳掠犹大和耶路撒冷的时候，约萨答也被掳去。

他要娶处女为妻。大祭司不可娶寡妇，被休的妇人，或被玷污的妓女为妻；他只可以娶自己百姓中的处女为妻。他不可在自己百姓中侮辱他的儿女，因为我是使他分别为圣的耶和华。”

以利亚实大祭司的孙子，耶何耶大的一个儿子是和伦人参巴拉的女婿，我就把他从我这里赶出去。

“祭司不可娶妓女，或被玷污的女人为妻，也不可娶被休的妇人为妻，因为他是归上帝为圣的。
