But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?“‘ As I live,’ says the Lord Yahweh,‘ surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company won’t help him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many persons. For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things. He won’t escape.“ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:‘ As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.I will spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon, and will enter into judgment with him there for his trespass that he has trespassed against me.All his fugitives in all his bands will fall by the sword, and those who remain will be scattered toward every wind. I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, though he will die there.I will scatter toward every wind all who are around him to help him, and all his bands. I will draw out the sword after them.“‘ They will know that I am Yahweh when I disperse them among the nations, and scatter them through the countries. But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they come. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,“ Son of man, eat your bread with quaking, and drink your water with trembling and with fearfulness.Tell the people of the land,‘ The Lord Yahweh says concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the land of Israel:“ They will eat their bread with fearfulness, and drink their water in dismay, that her land may be desolate, and all that is therein, because of the violence of all those who dwell therein. The cities that are inhabited will be laid waste, and the land will be a desolation.
