I have appointed forty days, each day for a year, to you.You shall set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with your arm uncovered; and you shall prophesy against it.Behold, I put ropes on you, and you shall not turn yourself from one side to the other, until you have accomplished the days of your siege.

It will happen, when they ask you,‘ Where shall we go out?’ then you shall tell them,‘ Yahweh says:“ Such as are for death, to death; such as are for the sword, to the sword; such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for captivity, to captivity.”’

For death has come up into our windows. It has entered into our palaces to cut off the children from outside, and the young men from the streets.Speak,“ Yahweh says,“‘ The dead bodies of men will fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and no one will gather them.’”

Though they dig into Sheol, there my hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down.Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out there; and though they be hidden from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.

I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they are consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.’”
