When I say to the wicked,‘ You wicked person, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.

我对恶人说：‘恶人哪，你必要死！’你以西结若不开口警戒恶人，使他离开所行的道，这恶人必死在罪孽之中，我却要向你讨他丧命的罪。

我語惡人曰、惡者乎、爾必死、如爾不警之、使離其道、惡人必死於其罪、而我必索其血於爾、

我謂惡人必死、以告乎爾、如爾不示之、使彼悛改、則惡人將死於罪、而爾不能免於刑罰、

我言惡人必死、如爾不言以警惡人、使改悔其行、則惡人必死於罪、而其喪命之罪、我必責問於爾、而其喪命之罪我必責問於爾原文作而其血必討於爾手

Suppose I say to a sinful person,‘ You can be sure that you will die.’ And suppose you do not try to get them to change their ways. Then they will die because they have sinned. And I will hold you responsible for their death.

If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.

If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.

If I say to the wicked,‘ Wicked one, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to warn him about his way, that wicked person will die for his iniquity, yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

And if I say to a wicked person,‘ You will surely die,’ but they then turn away from their sin and do what is just and right—

For everyone belongs to me, the parent as well as the child— both alike belong to me. The one who sins is the one who will die.

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’

But his father will die for his own sin, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people.

Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.

The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.

“ Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah’s followers, who banded together against the Lord, but he died for his own sin and left no sons.

But I said,“ Alas, Sovereign Lord! The prophets keep telling them,‘ You will not see the sword or suffer famine. Indeed, I will give you lasting peace in this place.’”Then the Lord said to me,“ The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds.Therefore this is what the Lord says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying,‘ No sword or famine will touch this land.’ Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine.And the people they are prophesying to will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and sword. There will be no one to bury them, their wives, their sons and their daughters. I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve.

They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious.“ Peace, peace,” they say, when there is no peace.Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when they are punished, says the Lord.“‘ I will take away their harvest, declares the Lord. There will be no grapes on the vine. There will be no figs on the tree, and their leaves will wither. What I have given them will be taken from them.’”

but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

“ You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.

Yet because the wicked do not fear God, it will not go well with them, and their days will not lengthen like a shadow.

My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.“‘ Because they lead my people astray, saying,“ Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,

“ Suppose he has a violent son, who sheds blood or does any of these other things( though the father has done none of them):“ He eats at the mountain shrines. He defiles his neighbor’s wife.He oppresses the poor and needy. He commits robbery. He does not return what he took in pledge. He looks to the idols. He does detestable things.He lends at interest and takes a profit. Will such a man live? He will not! Because he has done all these detestable things, he is to be put to death; his blood will be on his own head.

Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.
