If I say to the wicked,‘ Wicked one, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to warn him about his way, that wicked person will die for his iniquity, yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

我謂惡人必死、以告乎爾、如爾不示之、使彼悛改、則惡人將死於罪、而爾不能免於刑罰、

我言惡人必死、如爾不言以警惡人、使改悔其行、則惡人必死於罪、而其喪命之罪、我必責問於爾、而其喪命之罪我必責問於爾原文作而其血必討於爾手

When I say to the wicked,‘ You wicked person, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.

Suppose I say to a sinful person,‘ You can be sure that you will die.’ And suppose you do not try to get them to change their ways. Then they will die because they have sinned. And I will hold you responsible for their death.

If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.

If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths.

When I say to the wicked,‘ You wicked person, you will certainly die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked about his way, that wicked person shall die for his wrongdoing, but I will require his blood from your hand.

Therefore I declare to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all of you,because I did not avoid declaring to you the whole plan of God.

“‘ So when I tell the wicked person,“ You will surely die,” but he repents of his sin and does what is just and right—

Look, every life belongs to me. The life of the father is like the life of the son— both belong to me. The person who sins is the one who will die.

However, suppose the watchman sees the sword coming but doesn’t blow the ram’s horn, so that the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes away their lives. Then they have been taken away because of their iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’

“ As for his father, he will die for his own iniquity because he practiced fraud, robbed his brother, and did among his people what was not good.

Woe to the wicked— it will go badly for them, for what they have done will be done to them.

The person who sins is the one who will die. A son won’t suffer punishment for the father’s iniquity, and a father won’t suffer punishment for the son’s iniquity. The righteousness of the righteous person will be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked person will be on him.

“ Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among Korah’s followers, who gathered together against the LORD. Instead, he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons.

And I replied,“ Oh no, Lord GOD! The prophets are telling them,‘ You won’t see sword or suffer famine. I will certainly give you lasting peace in this place.’”But the LORD said to me,“ These prophets are prophesying a lie in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a false vision, worthless divination, the deceit of their own minds.“ Therefore, this is what the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, though I did not send them, and who say,‘ There will never be sword or famine in this land.’ By sword and famine these prophets will meet their end.The people they are prophesying to will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. There will be no one to bury them— they, their wives, their sons, and their daughters. I will pour out their own evil on them.”

They have treated the brokenness of my dear people superficially, claiming,‘ Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.Were they ashamed when they acted so detestably? They weren’t at all ashamed. They can no longer feel humiliation. Therefore, they will fall among the fallen. When I punish them, they will collapse,” says the LORD.“ I will gather them and bring them to an end.” This is the LORD’s declaration.“ There will be no grapes on the vine, no figs on the fig tree, and even the leaf will wither. Whatever I have given them will be lost to them.”

but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”

“ No! You will certainly not die,” the serpent said to the woman.

However, it will not go well with the wicked, and they will not lengthen their days like a shadow, for they are not reverent before God.

My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not be present in the council of my people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, and they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.“‘ Since they have led my people astray by saying,“ Peace,” when there is no peace, and since when a flimsy wall is being built, they plaster it with whitewash,

“ But suppose the man has a violent son, who sheds blood and does any of these things,though the father has done none of them. Indeed, when the son eats at the mountain shrines and defiles his neighbor’s wife,and when he oppresses the poor and needy, commits robbery, and does not return collateral, and when he looks to the idols, commits detestable acts,and lends at interest or for profit, will he live? He will not live! Since he has committed all these detestable acts, he will certainly die. His death will be his own fault.

Be assured that a wicked person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape.
