In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month on the fifth day, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has fallen!”

It was the 12th year since we had been brought to Babylon as prisoners. On the fifth day of the tenth month, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to bring me a report. He said,“ The city has fallen!”

In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, a fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has been struck down.”

On January 8, during the twelfth year of our captivity, a survivor from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has fallen!”

In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, a fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported,“ The city has been taken!”

Now in the twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth of the tenth month, the survivor from Jerusalem came to me, saying,“ The city has been taken.”

And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, on the fifth day of the month, that one who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has been captured!”

And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.

跟從護衛長的迦勒底全軍拆毀了耶路撒冷四圍的城牆。

正是約雅斤王被擄的第五年四月初五，

又因他流無辜人的血，使無辜人的血充滿耶路撒冷；耶和華不願赦免。約雅敬其餘的事，凡他所做的，不都寫在《猶大列王記》上嗎？約雅敬與他祖先同睡，他兒子約雅斤接續他作王。埃及王不再從他的國出征，因為巴比倫王把埃及王所管之地，從埃及溪谷直到幼發拉底河都奪去了。

所以，耶和華使迦勒底人的王來攻擊他們，在他們聖殿裏用刀殺了他們的壯丁，不憐憫他們的少男少女、老人長者。耶和華把所有的人都交在他手裏。他把神殿裏一切的大小器皿與耶和華殿裏的財寶，以及王和眾領袖的財寶，全都帶到巴比倫去。迦勒底人焚燒了神的殿，拆毀耶路撒冷的城牆，用火燒了城裏所有的宮殿，毀壞了城裏一切寶貴的器皿。凡脫離刀劍的倖存者，迦勒底王都擄到巴比倫去，作他和他子孫的僕婢，直到波斯國興起。這就應驗耶和華藉耶利米的口所說的話：地得享安息；在荒涼的日子，地就守安息，直到滿了七十年。

逃脫的人豈不來到你這裏，使你耳聞這事嗎？那日你要向逃脫的人開口說話，不再啞口無言。你必這樣成為他們的預兆，他們就知道我是耶和華。」

我們被擄的第二十五年，耶路撒冷城攻破後十四年，正在年初，某月初十，就在那一天，耶和華的手按在我身上，把我帶到那裏。

猶大王西底家第九年十月，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領全軍前來圍困耶路撒冷。西底家十一年四月初九日，城被攻破。耶路撒冷被攻下的時候，巴比倫王的眾官長，尼甲‧沙利薛、三甲‧尼波、撒西金將軍、尼甲‧沙利薛將軍，並巴比倫王其餘的官長都來坐在中門。猶大王西底家和所有士兵看見他們，就在夜間從靠近王的花園、兩城牆中間的門逃跑出城，往亞拉巴逃去。迦勒底的軍隊追趕他們，在耶利哥的平原追上西底家，將他逮住，帶到哈馬地的利比拉、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒那裏；尼布甲尼撒就判他的罪。在利比拉，巴比倫王在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女；巴比倫王又殺了猶大所有的貴族，並且挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖住他，要帶到巴比倫去。迦勒底人用火焚燒王宮和百姓的房屋，又拆毀耶路撒冷的城牆。

城被攻破，士兵全都在夜間從靠近王的花園、兩城牆中間的門逃跑。迦勒底人正在四圍攻城，王就往亞拉巴逃去。

他作王第九年十月初十，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領全軍前來攻擊耶路撒冷，對着城安營，四圍築堡壘攻城，城被圍困，直到西底家王十一年。四月初九，城裏的饑荒非常嚴重，當地的百姓都沒有糧食。城被攻破，士兵全都在夜間從靠近王園兩城牆中間的門逃跑出城；迦勒底人正在四圍攻城，他們就往亞拉巴逃去。迦勒底的軍隊追趕西底家王，在耶利哥的平原追上他。他的全軍都離開他潰散了。迦勒底人就拿住王，帶他到哈馬地利比拉的巴比倫王那裏；巴比倫王就判他的罪。巴比倫王在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女，又在利比拉殺了猶大全體的官長，並且挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去，將他囚在監裏，直到他死的日子。巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒十九年五月初十，在巴比倫王面前侍立的尼布撒拉旦護衛長進入耶路撒冷，他焚燒了耶和華的殿、王宮和耶路撒冷的房屋；用火焚燒所有大戶人家的房屋。跟隨護衛長的迦勒底全軍拆毀了耶路撒冷四圍的城牆。
