Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave[ them] all into his hand.And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all[ these] he brought to Babylon.And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths:[ for] as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

Jeremiah 39:1-8
In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.[ And] in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth[ day] of the month, the city was broken up.And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate,[ even] Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.And it came to pass,[ that] when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth[ day] of the month,[ that] Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about.So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.And in the fourth month, in the ninth[ day] of the month, the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which[ was] by the king’s garden;( now the Chaldeans[ were] by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him.And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah.Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.Now in the fifth month, in the tenth[ day] of the month, which[ was] the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard,[ which] served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great[ men], burned he with fire:And all the army of the Chaldeans, that[ were] with the captain of the guard, brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.
