「因此，主耶和華說，『因為它樹幹高大，樹梢高聳入雲，心高氣傲，

所以主耶和华如此说：“因它高大，树尖插入云中，心骄气傲，

“因此，主耶和华说，‘因为它树干高大，树梢高耸入云，心高气傲，

“‘因此，主耶和华这样说：因为它树身高大，树顶在茂密的枝叶之上，又因它高大而心骄气傲，

『故此永恆主這麼說：其樹身既高聳，其樹梢既挺立於雲霄間，其心既以其高大而驕傲，

主耶和華曰、因其崇高、其杪入雲、心志驕泰、

耶和華曰、彼譬喬木、其葉蓁蓁、心志驕泰、

主天主如是云、譬彼樹木、其株崇高、其巔茂密、因而心高志傲、

“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because the great cedar towered over the thick foliage, and because it was proud of its height,

So the Lord and King says,“ The great cedar tree grew very high. Its top was above all the leaves. It was proud of how tall it was.

“ Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because it towered high and set its top among the clouds, and its heart was proud of its height,

“ Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because Egypt became proud and arrogant, and because it set itself so high above the others, with its top reaching to the clouds,

“‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: Since it towered high in stature and set its top among the clouds, and it grew proud on account of its height,

‘ Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Because it is tall in stature and has put its top among the clouds, and its heart is haughty in its loftiness,

“ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:‘ Because you have increased in height, and it set its top among the thick boughs, and its heart was lifted up in its height,

Therefore thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou art exalted in stature, and he hath set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

“ Therefore this is what the Lord God says: Since it became great in height and set its top among the clouds, and it grew proud on account of its height,

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

“‘ Therefore this is what the sovereign LORD says: Because it was tall in stature, and its top reached into the clouds, and it was proud of its height,

“ Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh:‘ Because you are exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

但他變得心高氣傲、剛愎自用、狂妄自大，因而被革除王位、剝去尊榮。

你因俊美而心高氣傲，因輝煌而心智敗壞，所以我把你扔到地上，讓你在列國的君王面前出醜。

希西迦卻沒有為他所蒙的恩典而感謝上帝，因為他心中驕傲。因此，上帝的烈怒臨到他、猶大和耶路撒冷。

主完成在錫安山和耶路撒冷要做的事後，必懲罰心裡狂妄、眼目高傲的亞述王。

你住在懸崖峭壁間，住在高山上，自以為誰也不能把你拉下來，但你的驕傲欺騙了你。

你曾想，『我要升到天上，把自己的寶座設在上帝的眾星之上；我要坐在遙遠的北方眾神明聚會的山上；我要升到雲天之上，使自己與至高者一樣。』可是，你必墜入陰間，掉進死亡的深坑。

驕傲是敗亡的前奏，謙虛是尊榮的先鋒。

故此，水邊的樹木都不再傲然矗立，高聳入雲，水源充足的大樹也不再如此高大，因為它們都註定要與下墳墓的人一同死亡，落到陰間的深處。』

自高的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。

你打敗了以東人就趾高氣揚。你還是待在家裡吧，何必惹禍上身，使你和猶大一同滅亡呢？」

但上帝賜給我們更大的恩典，所以聖經上說：「上帝阻擋驕傲的人，恩待謙卑的人。」

祂洞悉詭詐之人，看見罪惡，豈會不理？愚蠢人若能變得聰明，野驢駒也可生成人樣。

說：「這宏偉的巴比倫豈不是我用大能建立為京都，以顯我的威嚴和榮耀嗎？」

驕橫是淪亡的前奏，狂傲是敗落的預兆。
