The foot of neither man nor beast will pass through it; no one will live there for forty years.

No people or animals will travel through Egypt. No one will even live there for 40 years.

我必使這地非常荒涼，它因勢力而有的驕傲必止息；以色列的山都必荒涼，無人經過。

到那日，推羅必被忘記七十年，正如一個王朝的年日；七十年後，推羅必像妓女所唱之歌：

這地要全變為荒廢，令人驚駭；這些國家要服事巴比倫王七十年。“七十年滿了以後，我要按著他們的罪孽懲罰巴比倫王和那國，就是迦勒底人之地，使它永遠荒涼。”這是耶和華的宣告。

必有外族人，就是列國中最強暴的，把它砍下丟棄。它的枝葉落在山上和所有的谷中；它的枝子折斷，落在地上所有的水溝裡；地上的萬族都必走離它的蔭下，把它丟棄。

七十年後，耶和華必眷顧推羅，推羅就恢復繁榮，可以與地上的萬國交易。

這樣，就應驗了耶和華藉耶利米所說的話：直到這地享滿了安息，因為這地在荒涼的日子，就享安息，直到滿了七十年。

你們要住在我賜給你們列祖的地；你們要作我的子民，我要作你們的神。

“耶和華這樣說：‘為巴比倫所定的七十年滿了以後，我必眷顧你們，向你們實行我滿有恩惠的諾言，把你們帶回這地方來。

就是他作王的第一年，我但以理從經書上留意到耶和華臨到耶利米先知的話，指出耶路撒冷荒廢的年數必滿七十年。

主耶和華這樣說：“‘我必藉著巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手，消滅埃及的財富。他和跟隨他的人，就是列國中最強橫的人，必被領進來，毀滅這地；他們必拔出刀來攻擊埃及，使遍地滿了被殺的人。我必使江河乾涸，把這地賣給惡人；我必藉著外族人的手，使這地和其中所充滿的，都變成荒涼。我耶和華已經說了。主耶和華這樣說：“‘我必毀滅偶像，使虛無的神像從挪弗滅絕。必不再有君王從埃及地而出；我也必使懼怕臨到埃及地。
