“ Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

“ Son of man, sing a song of sadness about the king of Tyre. Tell him,‘ The Lord and King says,“‘ “You were the model of perfection. You were full of wisdom. You were perfect and beautiful.

“ Son of man, sing this funeral song for the king of Tyre. Give him this message from the Sovereign Lord:“ You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and exquisite in beauty.

“ Son of man, lament for the king of Tyre and say to him,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

“ Son of man, take up a song of mourning over the king of Tyre and say to him,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

“ Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

“ Son of man, lament for the king of Tyre and say to him: This is what the Lord God says: You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

“ Son of man, sing a lament for the king of Tyre, and say to him,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says:“‘ You were the sealer of perfection, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

“ Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and tell him,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ You were the seal of full measure, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

And you, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

“ Now you, son of man, raise a lamentation over Tyre,and say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrances to the sea, merchant of the peoples to many coastlands, thus says the Lord God:“ O Tyre, you have said,‘ I am perfect in beauty.’Your borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders made perfect your beauty.

And they will raise a lamentation over you and say to you,“‘ How you have perished, you who were inhabited from the seas, O city renowned, who was mighty on the sea; she and her inhabitants imposed their terror on all her inhabitants!

Jeremiah also uttered a lament for Josiah; and all the singing men and singing women have spoken of Josiah in their laments to this day. They made these a rule in Israel; behold, they are written in the Laments.

When therefore I have completed this and have delivered to them what has been collected, I will leave for Spain by way of you.

For it is written,“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Consider, and call for the mourning women to come; send for the skillful women to come;let them make haste and raise a wailing over us, that our eyes may run down with tears and our eyelids flow with water.For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How we are ruined! We are utterly shamed, because we have left the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.’”Hear, O women, the word of the Lord, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; teach to your daughters a lament, and each to her neighbor a dirge.

This is a lamentation that shall be chanted; the daughters of the nations shall chant it; over Egypt, and over all her multitude, shall they chant it, declares the Lord God.”

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

For he says:“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding; I remove the boundaries of peoples, and plunder their treasures; like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones.

And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.

And fire has gone out from the stem of its shoots, has consumed its fruit, so that there remains in it no strong stem, no scepter for ruling. This is a lamentation and has become a lamentation.

you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon:“ How the oppressor has ceased, the insolent fury ceased!

Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.

“ Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:“ Because your heart is proud, and you have said,‘ I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,’ yet you are but a man, and no god, though you make your heart like the heart of a god—you are indeed wiser than Daniel; no secret is hidden from you;by your wisdom and your understanding you have made wealth for yourself, and have gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;by your great wisdom in your trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth—

For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written,“ He catches the wise in their craftiness,”

In their wailing they raise a lamentation for you and lament over you:‘ Who is like Tyre, like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?

Thus says the Lord:“ Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,

and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

“ Son of man, raise a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him:“ You consider yourself a lion of the nations, but you are like a dragon in the seas; you burst forth in your rivers, trouble the waters with your feet, and foul their rivers.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord.
