為死者毋揚爾聲、毋露爾首、毋去爾履、毋掩爾口、毋食苦餅。

惟可暗中歎息、為死者勿哀喪、首仍戴冠、足仍著履、毋掩爾口、勿食人為喪事所供之食物、

他們必不得向耶和華獻澆酒祭，所獻的祭也不蒙悅納。他們的祭物如居喪者的食物，凡吃的必使自己玷污；因為他們的食物只為自己的口腹，必不得入耶和華的殿。

大衛蒙頭赤腳走上橄欖山的斜坡，一面上一面哭。所有跟隨他的百姓也都各自蒙頭哭着上去；

摩西對亞倫和他兒子以利亞撒和以他瑪說：「不可蓬頭散髮，也不可撕裂衣服，免得你們死亡，免得耶和華向全會眾發怒。但你們的弟兄以色列全家卻要為耶和華發出的火哀哭。

「在弟兄中作大祭司的，頭上倒了膏油，承接聖職，穿了聖衣，不可蓬頭散髮，也不可撕裂衣服；

我保持沉默，閉口不言，因為這一切都是你所做的。

先見必抱愧，占卜的必蒙羞，他們全都摀着鬍鬚，因為神不應允他們。

你當安心倚靠耶和華，耐性等候他，不要因那道路通達的和那惡謀成就的心懷不平。

「患有痲瘋災病的人，他的衣服要撕裂，也要蓬頭散髮，遮住上唇，喊着說：『不潔淨！不潔淨！』

他們必死於致命的疾病，無人哀哭，不得埋葬，在地上如糞土，因刀劍和饑荒而滅絕；他們的屍首必給空中的飛鳥和地上的走獸作食物。「耶和華如此說：不要進入喪家，不要去哀哭，也不要為他們悲傷，因我已使我的平安、慈愛、憐憫離開這百姓。這是耶和華說的。他們連大帶小，都必在這地死亡，不得埋葬。人必不為他們哀哭，不為他們割劃自己，也不剃光頭。有喪事，人不為他們擘餅，也不因死人安慰他們；他們喪父喪母，人也不給他們一杯酒安慰他們。

那日，宮殿裏的詩歌要變為哀號；必有許多屍首拋在各處，安靜無聲。」這是主耶和華說的。

那時，你們要照我所做的去做。你們不可摀着鬍鬚，也不可吃一般人的食物。你們頭要裹上頭巾，腳要穿上鞋；不可悲哀哭泣。你們必因自己的罪孽衰殘，相對嘆息。

你們要休息，要知道我是神！我必在列國中受尊崇，在全地也受尊崇。

惟耶和華在他的聖殿中，全地都當在他面前肅靜。
