Then set the empty pot on the coals till it becomes hot and its copper glows, so that its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away.

Then set the empty pot on the coals. Let it get hot. Let its copper glow. Then what is not pure in it will melt. Its scum will be burned away.

耶和华说：我向这城变脸，降祸不降福；这城必交在巴比伦王的手中，他必用火焚烧。”

万军之耶和华说：“那日临近，势如烧着的火炉，凡狂傲的和行恶的必如碎秸，在那日必被烧尽，根本枝条一无存留。

迦勒底人用火焚烧王宫和百姓的房屋，又拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙。

他手里拿着簸箕，要扬净他的场，把麦子收在仓里，把糠用不灭的火烧尽了。”

攻城的迦勒底人必来放火焚烧这城和其中的房屋。在这房屋上，人曾向巴力烧香，向别神浇奠，惹我发怒。

“那日，必给大卫家和耶路撒冷的居民开一个泉源，洗除罪恶与污秽。”万军之耶和华说：“那日，我必从地上除灭偶像的名，不再被人记念；也必使这地不再有假先知与污秽的灵。

他们必剥去你的衣服，夺取你华美的宝器。这样，我必使你的淫行和你从埃及地染来的淫乱止息了，使你不再仰望亚述，也不再追念埃及。

若有人用金、银、宝石、草木、禾秸在这根基上建造，各人的工程必然显露，因为那日子要将它表明出来，有火发现；这火要试验各人的工程怎样。

你们即便杀败了与你们争战的迦勒底全军，但剩下受伤的人也必各人从帐棚里起来，用火焚烧这城。’”

我必将你分散在列国，四散在列邦。我也必从你中间除掉你的污秽。你必在列国人的眼前因自己所行的被亵渎，你就知道我是耶和华。”耶和华的话临到我说：“人子啊，以色列家在我看为渣滓。他们都是炉中的铜、锡、铁、铅，都是银渣滓。所以主耶和华如此说：因你们都成为渣滓，我必聚集你们在耶路撒冷中。人怎样将银、铜、铁、铅、锡聚在炉中，吹火熔化；照样，我也要发怒气和忿怒，将你们聚集放在城中，熔化你们。我必聚集你们，把我烈怒的火吹在你们身上，你们就在其中熔化。银子怎样熔化在炉中，你们也必照样熔化在城中，你们就知道我耶和华是将忿怒倒在你们身上了。”耶和华的话临到我说：

我必用清水洒在你们身上，你们就洁净了。我要洁净你们，使你们脱离一切的污秽，弃掉一切的偶像。

我必反手加在你身上，炼尽你的渣滓，除净你的杂质。

我必从你们中间除净叛逆和得罪我的人，将他们从所寄居的地方领出来，他们却不得入以色列地。你们就知道我是耶和华。

你若不出去归降巴比伦王的首领，这城必交在迦勒底人手中。他们必用火焚烧，你也不得脱离他们的手。”

这些人必用石头打死她们，用刀剑杀害她们，又杀戮她们的儿女，用火焚烧她们的房屋。这样，我必使淫行从境内止息，好叫一切妇人都受警戒，不效法你们的淫行。

所以，雅各的罪孽得赦免，他的罪过得除掉的果效，全在乎此：就是他叫祭坛的石头变为打碎的灰石，以致木偶和日像不再立起。

用火焚烧耶和华的殿和王宫，又焚烧耶路撒冷的房屋，就是各大户家的房屋。

也必从你国中除灭城邑，拆毁一切的保障，又必除掉你手中的邪术；你那里也不再有占卜的。我必从你中间除灭雕刻的偶像和柱像，你就不再跪拜自己手所造的。我必从你中间拔出木偶，又毁灭你的城邑。

耶和华说：“这全地的人，三分之二必剪除而死，三分之一仍必存留。我要使这三分之一经火，熬炼他们，如熬炼银子；试炼他们，如试炼金子。他们必求告我的名，我必应允他们。我要说：‘这是我的子民。’他们也要说：‘耶和华是我们的神。’”
