“‘ I will surely strike my hands together at the unjust gain you have made and at the blood you have shed in your midst.

“‘ “I will clap my hands because I am so angry. You got rich by cheating others. You spilled blood inside the walls of your city.

“ Behold, I strike my hand at the dishonest gain that you have made, and at the blood that has been in your midst.

“ But now I clap my hands in indignation over your dishonest gain and bloodshed.

“‘ Now look, I clap my hands together against the dishonest profit you have made and against the blood shed among you.

“ Behold, then, I strike with My hand your profit which you have made and the bloodshed which is among you.

“ Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst.

Behold, therefore, I have smitten my hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.

“ Now look, I clap My hands together against the dishonest profit you have made and against the blood shed among you.

Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.

“‘ See, I strike my hands together at the dishonest profit you have made, and at the bloodshed they have done among you.

“‘“ Behold, therefore I have struck my hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been within you.

I too will strike my hands together, and my wrath will subside. I the Lord have spoken.” (niv)

Those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil— (niv)

Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain. (niv)

“ So then, son of man, prophesy and strike your hands together. Let the sword strike twice, even three times. It is a sword for slaughter— a sword for great slaughter, closing in on them from every side. (niv)

“‘ Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say,“ We are safe”— safe to do all these detestable things?Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the Lord. (niv)

Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance.Therefore, the Lord says:“ I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, for it will be a time of calamity. (niv)

Hear this, you who trample the needy and do away with the poor of the land,saying,“ When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?”— skimping on the measure, boosting the price and cheating with dishonest scales,buying the poor with silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, selling even the sweepings with the wheat. (niv)

and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. (niv)

“ They do not know how to do right,” declares the Lord,“ who store up in their fortresses what they have plundered and looted.” (niv)

Am I still to forget your ill- gotten treasures, you wicked house, and the short ephah, which is accursed?Shall I acquit someone with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights? (niv)

Whoever increases wealth by taking interest or profit from the poor amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor. (niv)
