如今我快要將我的烈怒傾倒在你身上，向你發盡我的怒氣，按你的行徑判罰你，將你一切可厭惡的事還報與你了。

你們向慕着多，你看，卻得的少；你們收到家裏，我給吹去。為甚麼？萬軍之永恆主發神諭說：因為我的殿荒廢，而你們各人卻逕為自己的房屋奔跑啊。

因為有一個焚燒處早已安排好了，居然又是為了君王而豫備的，又深又寬；它堆的是火跟許多木柴；永恆主的氣如一條硫磺火流，把它點𤏲起來。

永恆主這麼說：『看吧，必有一族之民從北方之地而來，必有一個大國被激動，從地之極處來到。他們拿着弓和短槍；性很殘忍，毫無憐憫。其聲音如洋海之匉訇；他們都騎着馬，擺上隊，如上戰場的人要攻擊你了，錫安小姐啊。』

有獅子從其叢藪中上來了，有毁壞列國的已經起身；他從他的地方出發，要使你的地荒涼，使你的城市倒壞，無人居住。

或者我打發瘟疫去流行那地，使我那叫人流血的烈怒傾倒在那上頭，好將人和牲口都從那裏剪除掉；

永恆主啊，你的叱責一發，你鼻孔的氣息一呼出，海底就出現，大地的根基也現露。

在他的盛怒前、誰能站得住呢？他怒氣之猛烈、誰能當得起呢？他的烈怒像火傾瀉而出，碞石因他而崩裂。

『你是我的棒槌和戰器；我要用你來打碎列國，用你來毁滅列邦；用你來打碎馬和騎馬的；用你來打碎戰車和坐戰車的；用你來打碎男人和女人；用你來打碎老年人和少年人；用你來打碎壯丁和處女；用你來打碎牧人和他的牲畜羣；用你來打碎農人和他的耕牛；用你來打碎巡撫和省長。

看吧，我必使他靈機一動，就聽見風聲，而回他本地去；我必使他在他本地那裏倒斃於刀下。」』

人怎樣將銀、銅、鐵、鉛、錫、集合在鑪中，噴火去熔化它，我也必怎樣用我的怒氣我的烈怒將你們集合攏來，放在城中來熔化你們。我必將你們聚集攏來，把我震怒之火噴在你們身上，使你們熔化在那中間。銀子怎樣熔化在鑪中，你們也必怎樣熔化在那中間；你們就知道是我永恆主將我的烈怒倒在你們身上的。』

因為你看吧，我在激起迦勒底人、那殘酷暴躁的國、那向廣大地區進發、佔據不屬自己住處的。他們威武可畏而可懼怕，判斷與破毁任由自己作出。他們的馬比豹還快，比晚上的豺狼還猛；他們的馬騰躍着飛跑，從遠方而來，飛臨如鷹，急着要喫。他們都為了行強暴而來；未到之先、人就懼怕他們。他們聚集被擄的人、多如塵沙。是他們對着君王而譏笑，對着人君而打笑話的；是他們對着一切堡壘而戲笑的，因為他們堆土壘去攻取它。

你必發表這首言論歌來諷刺巴比倫王說：『啊，壓迫人的怎麼息滅了！狂暴怎麼止息了！永恆主折斷了惡人權柄之杖，毁了轄制人者的指揮棍，就是無停的擊打，怒憤憤地擊打外族之民，肆無抑制的蹂躪，氣忿忿地蹂躪列國的。

永恆主的氣一吹在上頭，草就枯乾，花就凋殘；啊，人真是草。
