于是我说：“唉，主耶和华啊，他们在议论我说，‘这人岂不是在说比喻吗？’”

Then I said,“ Sovereign Lord, they are saying of me,‘ Isn’t he just telling parables?’”

Then I said,“ Lord and King, people are talking about me. They are saying,‘ Isn’t he just telling stories?’ ”

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord God! They are saying of me,‘ Is he not a maker of parables?’”

Then I said,“ O Sovereign Lord, they are saying of me,‘ He only talks in riddles!’”

Then I said,“ Oh, Lord GOD, they are saying of me,‘ Isn’t he just composing parables?’”

Then I said,“ Oh, Lord God! They are saying of me,‘ Is he not just speaking in riddles?’ ”

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord God! They say of me,‘ Does he not speak parables?’”

Then said I, Ah Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables?

Then I said,“ Oh, Lord God, they are saying of me,‘ Isn’t he just posing riddles?’”

Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?

Then I said,“ O sovereign LORD! They are saying of me,‘ Does he not simply speak in eloquent figures of speech?’”

Then I said,“ Ah Lord Yahweh! They say of me,‘ Isn’t he a speaker of parables?’”

“ Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. (niv)

A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to debate with him. Some of them asked,“ What is this babbler trying to say?” Others remarked,“ He seems to be advocating foreign gods.” They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection. (niv)

This is why I speak to them in parables:“ Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:“‘ You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. (niv)
