乃王子背巴比倫王約、遣使至埃及、欲其率軍馬以至、彼行是事、豈能亨通、豈能免難、爽約之人、豈能獲救。

因此耶和華的怒氣在耶路撒冷和猶大發作，以致將人民從自己面前趕出。

尼布甲尼撒曾使他指着神起誓，他卻背叛，強項硬心，不歸服耶和華－以色列的神。

「又有一大鷹，翅膀大，羽毛多。這葡萄樹從栽種的畦中向這鷹彎過根來，發出枝子，好得它的澆灌。

只是王不可為自己加添馬匹，也不可使百姓回埃及去，為要加添他的馬匹，因耶和華曾吩咐你們說：『不可再回那條路去。』

你若不出去歸降巴比倫王的首領，這城必交在迦勒底人手中。他們必用火焚燒，你也不得脫離他們的手。」

你必不能逃脫他的手，定被拿住，交在他的手中。你的眼要見巴比倫王的眼，他要口對口和你說話，你也必到巴比倫去。

因此耶和華的怒氣在耶路撒冷和猶大發作，以致將人民從自己的面前趕出。

他輕看誓言，背棄盟約，已經投降，卻又做這一切的事，他必不能逃脫。」

「人必將你的后妃和你的兒女帶到迦勒底人那裏；你也不得脫離他們的手，必被巴比倫王的手捉住；你也必使這城被火焚燒。」

你要說，主耶和華如此說：這葡萄樹豈能發旺呢？鷹豈不拔出它的根來，芟除它的果子，使它枯乾，使它發的嫩葉都枯乾了嗎？也不用大力和多民，就拔出它的根來。

法老的軍隊已經從埃及出來，那圍困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人聽見他們的風聲，就拔營離開耶路撒冷去了。耶和華的話臨到先知耶利米說：「耶和華－以色列的神如此說：猶大王打發你們來求問我，你們要如此對他說：『那出來幫助你們法老的軍隊必回埃及本國去。

猶大王西底家必不能逃脫迦勒底人的手，定要交在巴比倫王的手中，要口對口彼此說話，眼對眼彼此相看。

你這受死傷行惡的以色列王啊，罪孽的盡頭到了，受報的日子已到。

我們若忽略這麼大的救恩，怎能逃罪呢？這救恩起先是主親自講的，後來是聽見的人給我們證實了。

為要你順從耶和華－你神今日與你所立的約，向你所起的誓。這樣，他要照他向你所應許的話，又向你列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所起的誓，今日立你作他的子民，他作你的神。我不但與你們立這約，起這誓，凡與我們一同站在耶和華－我們神面前的，並今日不在我們這裏的人，我也與他們立這約，起這誓。

耶和華說：禍哉！這悖逆的兒女。他們同謀，卻不由於我，結盟，卻不由於我的靈，以致罪上加罪；起身下埃及去，並沒有求問我；要靠法老的力量加添自己的力量，並投在埃及的蔭下。所以，法老的力量必作你們的羞辱；投在埃及的蔭下，要為你們的慚愧。他們的首領已在瑣安；他們的使臣到了哈內斯。

神啊，你必使惡人下入滅亡的坑；流人血、行詭詐的人必活不到半世，但我要倚靠你。

禍哉！那些下埃及求幫助的，是因仗賴馬匹，倚靠甚多的車輛，並倚靠強壯的馬兵，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，也不求問耶和華。其實，耶和華有智慧；他必降災禍，並不反悔自己的話，卻要興起攻擊那作惡之家，又攻擊那作孽幫助人的。埃及人不過是人，並不是神；他們的馬不過是血肉，並不是靈。耶和華一伸手，那幫助人的必絆跌，那受幫助的也必跌倒，都一同滅亡。

地啊，地啊，地啊，當聽耶和華的話！耶和華如此說：要寫明這人算為無子，是平生不得亨通的；因為他後裔中再無一人得亨通，能坐在大衛的寶座上治理猶大。

你們這些蛇類、毒蛇之種啊，怎能逃脫地獄的刑罰呢？

作假見證的，必不免受罰；吐出謊言的，終不能逃脫。

看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那壓傷的葦杖，人若靠這杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是這樣。你若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華－我們的神。希西家豈不是將神的邱壇和祭壇廢去，且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在這壇前敬拜嗎？現在你把當頭給我主亞述王，我給你二千匹馬，看你這一面騎馬的人夠不夠。若不然，怎能打敗我主臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車馬兵嗎？
