歷年既久、埃及王薨、以色列族因服役良苦、太息號呼、聲聞於上帝。上帝聞之、追念素與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立之約、

耶和華曰、爾當知爾苗裔必旅於異邦、服役良苦、歷四百年。

耶和華兮、請爾視之、所責者誰、婦之初娩、自食其子、祭司先知、見戮於聖所兮。

曰、我耶和華爾之上帝、導爾出埃及、脫汝於賤役、

然以色列族在曠野、違逆乎我、不遵我禮儀、犯我安息日、浸假有人守我法度、則可保生、惟彼藐視之、故我自謂、必在曠野、震怒斯眾、滅之務盡。

爾當憶念、昔在埃及、爾為人役、乃爾上帝耶和華贖爾、故我以此諭爾。

約書亞告民曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、亙古爾祖亞伯拉罕及拿鶴之父他拉、居大河東、服事他上帝。

耶和華震怒之期已屆、四周禍至、無能逃遁兮、我所撫育者、敵盡殺之、靡有孑遺兮。

不給僕以蒭、而使陶瓦、僕又被撻、咎歸王臣。曰、爾怠矣、爾怠矣、故云、容我往祭耶和華。爾往操作、不給爾蒭、所陶之瓦、其數當竣。以色列族長聞日所陶瓦、數毋容減、則知害及乎己。以色列族長覲法老而出、見摩西亞倫竚立於途、告之曰、爾使法老及群臣、無不惡我授刃殺我、願耶和華鑒察、而伸我冤。○

將見嬰兒、裹於布、寢於槽、是其號矣、

遂生冢子、裹以布、寢於槽、客舍無隙處故也、○

惟彼違逆、不從我命、不棄可惡之物、不毀埃及之偶像、故爾祖尚在埃及時、我已憤怒甚烈、欲降災其躬、
