“ Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any wood of a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

“人子啊，葡萄木比林中其他木材更好吗？

“人子啊！葡萄树的木料怎能胜过树林中的枝子呢？

「人子啊，葡萄樹比別樣樹有甚麼強處？葡萄枝比眾樹枝有甚麼好處？

「人子啊，葡萄樹比一切其他的樹，就是樹林裏眾樹木的樹枝，有甚麼長處呢？

「人子啊，葡萄木比林中其他木材更好嗎？

“人子啊！葡萄樹的木料怎能勝過樹林中的枝子呢？

『人子啊，葡萄樹比別樣樹有甚麼強處呢？森林樹木中的葡萄枝比別的樹枝有甚麼好處呢？

人子歟、葡萄樹在眾木中、葡萄枝在叢林中、有何長乎、

人子、葡萄之樹、豈得於林中眾木、等量齊觀乎。

人子、葡萄樹較諸他樹、有何長乎、葡萄樹枝、在林之諸樹中、有何勝乎、

“ Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest?

“ Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from the wood of any tree in the forest?

“ Son of man, how does the wood of the vine surpass any wood, the vine branch that is among the trees of the forest?

“ Son of man, how does a grapevine compare to a tree? Is a vine’s wood as useful as the wood of a tree?

“ Son of man, how does the wood of the vine, that branch among the trees of the forest, compare to any other wood?

“ Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any other wood, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Son of man, what is the vine- tree more than any tree, the vine- branch which is among the trees of the forest?

“ Son of man, how does the wood of the vine, that branch among the trees of the forest, compare to any other wood?

Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree,[ or than] a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

“ Son of man, of all the woody branches among the trees of the forest, what happens to the wood of the vine?

“ Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine- branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Let me sing now for my beloved A song of my beloved about His vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a fertile hill.He dug it all around, cleared it of stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. And He built a tower in the middle of it, And also carved out a wine vat in it; Then He expected it to produce good grapes, But it produced only worthless ones.“ And now, you inhabitants of Jerusalem and people of Judah, Judge between Me and My vineyard.What more was there to do for My vineyard that I have not done in it? Why, when I expected it to produce good grapes did it produce worthless ones?So now let Me tell you what I am going to do to My vineyard: I will remove its hedge and it will be consumed; I will break down its wall and it will become trampled ground.I will lay it waste; It will not be pruned nor hoed, But briars and thorns will come up. I will also command the clouds not to rain on it.”For the vineyard of the Lord of armies is the house of Israel, And the people of Judah are His delightful plant. So He waited for justice, but behold, there was bloodshed; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.

Israel is a luxuriant vine; He produces fruit for himself. The more his fruit, The more altars he made; The richer his land, The better he made the memorial stones.

You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its branches.It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the Euphrates River.Why have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?A boar from the forest eats it away, And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.God of armies, do turn back; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,The shoot which Your right hand has planted, And of the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish from the rebuke of Your face.

Yet I planted you as a choice vine, A completely faithful seed. How then have you turned yourself before Me Into the degenerate shoots of a foreign vine?

I went down to the orchard of nut trees To see the plants of the valley, To see whether the vine had grown Or the pomegranates had bloomed.

But He began to tell the people this parable:“ A man planted a vineyard and leased it to vine growers, and went on a journey for a long time.At the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine growers, so that they would give him his share of the produce of the vineyard; but the vine growers beat him and sent him away empty handed.And he proceeded to send another slave; but they beat him also and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty handed.And he proceeded to send a third; but this one too they wounded and threw out.Now the owner of the vineyard said,‘ What am I to do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’But when the vine growers saw him, they discussed with one another, saying,‘ This is the heir; let’s kill him so that the inheritance will be ours.’And so they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them?He will come and put these vine growers to death, and will give the vineyard to others.” However, when they heard this, they said,“ May it never happen!”

“ I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

“ Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom.”

Let’s rise early and go to the vineyards; Let’s see whether the vine has grown And its buds have opened, And whether the pomegranates have bloomed. There I will give you my love.

Solomon had a vineyard at Baal hamon; He entrusted the vineyard to caretakers. Each one was to bring a thousand shekels of silver for its fruit.My very own vineyard is at my disposal; The thousand shekels are for you, Solomon, And two hundred are for those who take care of its fruit.”

Wail, juniper, because the cedar has fallen, For the magnificent trees have been destroyed; Wail, oaks of Bashan, Because the impenetrable forest has come down.

The fig tree has ripened its fruit, And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!’ ”

Therefore on account of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest.

“ Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it, and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and he leased it to vine growers and went on a journey.And when the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine growers to receive his fruit.And the vine growers took his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again, he sent other slaves, more than the first; and they did the same things to them.But afterward he sent his son to them, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But when the vine growers saw the son, they said among themselves,‘ This is the heir; come, let’s kill him and take possession of his inheritance!’And they took him and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine growers?”They* said to Him,“ He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to other vine growers, who will pay him the fruit in the proper seasons.”

And He began to speak to them in parables:“ A man planted a vineyard and put a fence around it, and dug a vat under the wine press and built a tower, and leased it to vine growers and went on a journey.And at the harvest time he sent a slave to the vine growers, in order to receive his share of the produce of the vineyard from the vine growers.And they took him, and beat him, and sent him away empty handed.And again he sent them another slave, and they wounded him in the head, and treated him shamefully.And he sent another, and that one they killed; and so with many others, beating some and killing others.He had one more man to send, a beloved son; he sent him to them last of all, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But those vine growers said to one another,‘ This is the heir; come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours!’And they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and put the vine growers to death, and give the vineyard to others.

Shout for joy, you heavens, for the Lord has done it! Shout joyfully, you lower parts of the earth; Break into a shout of jubilation, you mountains, Forest, and every tree in it; For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, And in Israel He shows His glory.

For their vine is from the vine of Sodom, And from the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes are grapes of poison, Their clusters, bitter.Their wine is the venom of serpents, And the deadly poison of vipers.
