O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day— to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.

Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight.

Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”So the Lord said,“ If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”Then Abraham answered and said,“ Indeed now, I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord:Suppose there were five less than the fifty righteous; would You destroy all of the city for lack of five?” So He said,“ If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it.”And he spoke to Him yet again and said,“ Suppose there should be forty found there?” So He said,“ I will not do it for the sake of forty.”Then he said,“ Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose thirty should be found there?” So He said,“ I will not do it if I find thirty there.”And he said,“ Indeed now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord: Suppose twenty should be found there?” So He said,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of twenty.”Then he said,“ Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?” And He said,“ I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”So the Lord went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.

Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.Do they provoke Me to anger?” says the Lord.“ Do they not provoke themselves, to the shame of their own faces?”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Behold, My anger and My fury will be poured out on this place— on man and on beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and not be quenched.”Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat.For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.But this is what I commanded them, saying,‘ Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.Yet they did not obey Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.“ Therefore you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not obey you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you.“ So you shall say to them,‘ This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth.

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
