爾見其所為、知我降災、非出無因、則爾怨悉平、我耶和華已言之矣。

爾見其舉止行為、則使爾覺安慰、爾曹則知我凡所行於耶路撒冷者、並非無故、此乃主天主所言、

You will be consoled when you see their conduct and their actions, for you will know that I have done nothing in it without cause, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

You will be comforted when you see how they act and the way they live. Then you will know that I did not do anything there without a reason,” announces the Lord and King.

Howbeit thou[ art] just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:

Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God[ is] righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah[ is] exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not.

He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do?[ even] the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again,[ and] thou shalt see greater abominations.And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again,[ and] thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’S house which[ was] toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen[ this], O son of man? turn thee yet again,[ and] thou shalt see greater abominations than these.And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar,[ were] about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen[ this], O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice,[ yet] will I not hear them.

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

O Lord, righteousness[ belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel,[ that are] near, and[ that are] far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee,[ and] to prove thee, to know what[ was] in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that[ are] therein?That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which[ am but] dust and ashes:Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for[ lack of] five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy[ it].And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do[ it] for forty’s sake.And he said[ unto him], Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do[ it], if I find thirty there.And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy[ it] for twenty’s sake.And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy[ it] for ten’s sake.And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for[ thou] only[ art] holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead[ their] dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD:[ do they] not[ provoke] themselves to the confusion of their own faces?Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels[ and] in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending[ them]:Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.But thou shalt say unto them, This[ is] a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
