Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination:‘ Hear the word of the Lord!

“ Son of man, prophesy against those who are now prophesying in Israel. What they prophesy comes out of their own minds. Tell them,‘ Listen to the Lord’ s message!

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy from their own hearts:‘ Hear the word of the Lord!’

“ Son of man, prophesy against the false prophets of Israel who are inventing their own prophecies. Say to them,‘ Listen to the word of the Lord.

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination,‘ Hear the word of the LORD!

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy from their own inspiration,‘ Listen to the word of the Lord!

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: Hear the word of the Lord!

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to the prophets who prophesy from their imagination:‘ Hear the word of the LORD!

“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart,‘ Hear Yahweh’s word:

Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them,

Where[ are] now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?

The ancient and honourable, he[ is] the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he[ is] the tail.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

[ There is] a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

And her prophets have daubed them with untempered[ morter], seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one[ is] given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.They have healed also the hurt[ of the daughter] of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when[ there is] no peace.

Therefore will I give their wives unto others,[ and] their fields to them that shall inherit[ them]: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah[ the prophet], after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD.So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that[ be] in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

Her prophets[ are] light[ and] treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

But if they[ be] prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and[ in] the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.

Therefore night[ shall be] unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say,[ Is] not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.

Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD;

And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.How long shall[ this] be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea,[ they are] prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.

Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not[ thy word] against the house of Isaac.Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

All ye beasts of the field, come to devour,[ yea], all ye beasts in the forest.His watchmen[ are] blind: they are all ignorant, they[ are] all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.Yea,[ they are] greedy dogs[ which] can never have enough, and they[ are] shepherds[ that] cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.Come ye,[ say they], I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day,[ and] much more abundant.

Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which[ are] in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and[ am] a witness, saith the LORD.[ Thus] shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,

Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.

Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and[ on] his left.And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And[ the LORD] said, Thou shalt entice[ him], and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do[ even] so.Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD;

Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which[ is] in Jerusalem.

And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh[ unto him];

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love[ to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery[ ways] in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them,[ even] the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart,[ and] not out of the mouth of the LORD.They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard[ it]?Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

For the sins of her prophets,[ and] the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,
