因為他們迷惑了我的子民，說：‘平安了。’其實沒有平安。有人築起薄牆的時候，他們就用灰泥粉刷那牆。

因为他们欺骗我的子民说，‘平安！’其实并没有平安，就像有人筑了一道薄墙，用白灰加以粉饰。

因为他们迷惑了我的子民，说：‘平安了。’其实没有平安。有人筑起薄墙的时候，他们就用灰泥粉刷那墙。

因為他們欺騙我的子民說，『平安！』其實並沒有平安，就像有人築了一道薄牆，用白灰加以粉飾。

因為他們真地領導我人民走錯了路，說：「平安」，其實沒有平安。就像人、築了薄弱的牆，假神言人倒用灰水去塗抹。

蓋彼誘惑我民、謂曰平康、實無平康、人築垣墉、彼以不堅之泥塗之、

蓋彼先知、誘惑我民、謂有平康、平康不至、若作垣墉、一人築之、而他人以不堅緻之泥塗之。

因彼誘惑我民、無平康之時、反言有平康、猶如我民築墻、彼乃塗灰、

“‘ Because they lead my people astray, saying,“ Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,

“‘ “They lead my people away from me. They say,‘ Peace.’ But there isn’t any peace. They are like people who build a weak wall. They try to cover up the weakness by painting the wall white.

Precisely because they have misled my people, saying,‘ Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash,

“ This will happen because these evil prophets deceive my people by saying,‘ All is peaceful’ when there is no peace at all! It’s as if the people have built a flimsy wall, and these prophets are trying to reinforce it by covering it with whitewash!

“‘ Since they have led my people astray by saying,“ Peace,” when there is no peace, and since when a flimsy wall is being built, they plaster it with whitewash,

It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;

“ Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace— and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar—

Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there is no peace; and when one buildeth up a wall, behold, they daub it with untempered mortar:

“ Since they have led My people astray saying,‘ Peace,’ when there is no peace, for when someone builds a wall they plaster it with whitewash,

Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and[ there was] no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered[ morter]:

“‘ This is because they have led my people astray saying,“ All is well,” when things are not well. When anyone builds a wall without mortar, they coat it with whitewash.

“‘ Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying,“ Peace;” and there is no peace. When one builds up a wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash.

粉刷那牆的人，就是以色列的眾先知；他們指著耶路撒冷說預言，在沒有平安的時候，為這城見平安的異象。這是主耶和華的宣告。

這地的先知用灰泥給他們粉刷牆壁，為他們見虛假的異象，行騙人的占卜，說：‘主耶和華這樣說’，其實當時耶和華並沒有說話。

他們草率地醫治我子民（“我子民”原文作“我子民的女子”）的損傷，說：‘平安了！平安了！’其實沒有平安。”

我就說：“唉，主耶和華啊！你看，那些先知常對他們說：‘你們必不會看見刀劍，也必不會有饑荒；因為我耶和華要在這地方賜給你們恆久的平安。’”

他們草率地醫治我子民（“我子民”原文作“我子民的女子”）的損傷，說：“平安了！平安了！”其實沒有平安。’

但是他們沒有聽從。瑪拿西引誘他們去作壞事，比耶和華從以色列人面前消滅的外族人更厲害。

現在我們稱驕傲的人為有福，作惡的人得建立；他們雖然試探神，卻得以逃脫。’”

我的神說：“惡人必沒有平安。”

但惡人和騙子必越來越壞，他們欺騙人，也必受欺騙。

但預言平安的先知，除非他的話應驗，人才會承認他確實是耶和華所差遣的先知。”

先知說假預言，祭司憑己意把持權柄。我的子民竟喜愛這樣，到了結局你們怎麼辦呢？”

他們不斷對那些藐視我的人說：‘耶和華說：你們必平安無事！’又對所有隨從自己頑梗的心行事的人說：‘災禍必不臨到你們！’”

我們期待平安，卻得不到好處；期待得醫治的時候，不料，只有驚慌。

於是我說：“噢！主耶和華啊！你真的欺騙了這人民，也欺騙了耶路撒冷，說：‘你們必平安無事’，其實刀劍已經架在頸項上了！”

若有人隨從虛假的心，撒謊說：“我要向你們說清酒和烈酒的預言。”那人就是這民的預言家了。

聖靈明明地說，日後必有人離棄信仰，跟從虛謊的邪靈和鬼魔的教訓。

我的子民成了迷失的羊，他們的牧人使他們走錯了路，使他們在山上徘徊；他們從大山走到小山，忘記了他們安歇之處。

我把這些事寫給你們，是指著那些欺騙你們的人說的。

然而有一件事我要責備你，就是你容讓那自稱是先知的婦人耶洗別，教導和引誘我的眾僕人行淫亂，吃祭過偶像的食物。

義人作自己鄰舍的引導；惡人的道路，卻使別人走迷。

他們對先見說：“你們不要再看異象！”又對先知說：“你們不要再向我說真確的預言！倒要向我說動聽的話，預言虛幻的事吧！

“在撒瑪利亞的先知中，我看見可厭的事：他們竟奉巴力的名說預言，使我的子民以色列走錯了路。在耶路撒冷的先知中，我看見可怕的事。他們犯姦淫，行事虛假，堅固惡人的手，以致沒有人離棄惡行；在我看來，他們都像所多瑪人，耶路撒冷的居民也像蛾摩拉人一樣。”因此，論到這些先知，萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我必使他們吃苦堇，喝毒水，因為有不敬虔的風氣，從耶路撒冷的先知中散播出來，遍及全地。”

那去召米該雅的使者對米該雅說：“看哪，這裡的眾先知都異口同聲地對王說吉話，請你與他們一樣說吉話。”

驚恐臨到，他們就求平安，卻得不著。
