「不可與當地的居民立約，免得他們與自己的神明苟合時邀請你，你就吃他們的祭物，

只怕你与那地的居民立约，百姓随从他们的神，就行邪淫，祭祀他们的神，有人叫你，你便吃他的祭物，

你不可与那地的居民立约，因为他们随从自己的神明行淫；祭他们神明的时候，有人邀请你参加，你就会吃他的祭物。

爾若與其地之居民立約、恐彼妄從其神、祭祀其神、招爾食其祭物、

但他們不聽從士師的話，與其他神明苟合，祭拜它們，很快偏離他們祖先的道路，沒有效法他們的祖先順從耶和華的命令。

耶和華對摩西說：「你快要與祖先同眠了。這些百姓將很快在要佔領的土地上與外族人的神明苟合，背棄我，違背我與他們所立的約。

那些女子邀他們參加祭祀，他們吃了祭物，並跪拜她們的神明，

論到吃獻給偶像的祭物，我們知道世上的偶像算不得什麼，只有一位上帝，此外別無他神。

他們在毗珥祭拜巴力，吃獻給假神的祭物。

如果有非信徒邀請你們吃飯，你們又願意去，那麼，桌上擺的各樣食物，你們只管吃，不必為良心的緣故而詢問什麼。

如果有人看見你這明白以上道理的人竟然坐在偶像的廟中吃喝，他雖然良心不安，豈不還是會放膽吃獻給偶像的祭物嗎？

他們不可再獻祭物給山羊神，與其苟合。這是一條永遠不變的律例，他們世世代代都要遵守。

你要謹慎，到了目的地後，不可與當地的居民立約，免得因此而陷入網羅。

不過，並不是所有的人都有這種知識。有些人因為以前拜慣了偶像，現在吃到某些食物就覺得是祭過偶像的，因而良心不安，覺得自己被玷污了。

以色列肆意淫亂，拜石頭木頭，玷污了土地。

我必嚴懲那人一家，從民中剷除他和那些追隨他與摩洛苟合的人。如果有人求問靈媒或巫師，與他們苟合，我必嚴懲，將他從民中剷除。

穗子是用來提醒他們要遵行我的一切命令，不要隨從自己心中和眼目的情慾，以免玷污自己。

當然不是，我的意思是那些異教徒所獻的祭是祭鬼魔的，而不是獻給上帝的。我不願意你們與鬼魔有任何關係。你們不能又喝主的杯又喝鬼魔的杯，不能又吃主的聖餐又吃祭鬼魔的食物。

耶和華說：「我要與你立約，我要在你的同胞面前行奇事，是天下萬國從未有過的奇事，你周圍的外族人必看見我為你做的偉大而可畏的事。

拿著七碗的七位天使中有一位前來對我說：「你過來！我要讓你看那坐在眾水之上的大淫婦將要遭受的刑罰。地上的君王與她行淫，地上其他人也因喝了她淫亂的酒而酩酊大醉。」那時，我被聖靈感動，被天使帶到曠野，在那裡見到一個婦人騎著一隻朱紅色的怪獸。怪獸有七頭十角，渾身寫滿褻瀆上帝的名號。那婦人身穿紫色和朱紅色的袍子，用黃金、寶石及珍珠裝扮自己。她手中拿著金杯，裡面盛滿了她淫亂的污穢、可憎之物。在她額上還寫了一個神秘的名號：「大巴比倫——地上淫婦及可憎事物之母」。

那些遠離你的人必滅亡，你必滅絕不忠於你的人。

「我的子民祈求木頭，隨從木杖的指引。淫亂的心使他們走入歧途，他們不忠不貞，背棄他們的上帝。

他們向天上的上帝獻燔祭時所需的公牛犢、公綿羊、綿羊羔、小麥、鹽、酒和油，都要照耶路撒冷祭司的話天天供給他們，不得有誤，

可是有一件事我要責備你，就是你容許那自稱是先知的婦人耶洗別教導我的眾奴僕，引誘他們淫亂、吃祭過偶像的食物。

不可跟這些民族及其神明立約，

以色列啊，不要歡喜快樂，不要像外族人那樣歡喜快樂！因為你對你的上帝不忠不貞，在各麥場上喜愛賣淫得資財。

當你們的上帝耶和華把他們交在你們手裡、使你們打敗他們後，你們必須徹底毀滅他們。不可與他們立約，不可憐憫他們。
