那時，出賣耶穌的猶大見耶穌定了罪，就後悔了。他把那三十塊銀子還給祭司長和長老，說：“我有罪了！我出賣了無辜的人﹙“人”原文作“血”。﹚！”他們說：“這是你的事，跟我們有甚麼關係？”猶大把銀子丟進聖所，然後離開，出去吊死了。祭司長把銀子拾起來，說：“這是血錢，不可放在殿庫裡。”他們商議之後，就用那些錢買了“陶匠的田”，用來作外國人的墳地。

摩西看見人民放肆原來是亞倫縱容他們，使他們成為那些起來與他們為敵的人的笑柄，

他用不義的酬勞買了一塊田，結果倒頭栽了下去，腹破腸流。

亞倫從他們手中接過來，用雕刻的工具雕刻，鑄造了一個牛像；他們就說：“以色列啊，這就是你們的神，就是把你從埃及地領出來的那位。”

你為甚麼藐視耶和華的話，行他看為惡的事呢？你用刀擊殺了赫人烏利亞，娶了他的妻子作你的妻子，你藉著亞捫人的刀殺了烏利亞。所以，從今以後，刀劍必不離開你的家，因為你藐視了我，娶了赫人烏利亞的妻子作你的妻子。’

在那些日子裡，他們做了一個牛犢，把祭物獻給那偶像，並且因自己手所做的而歡樂。
