耶和华宣告说：“但如果你们真心听从我，不在安息日挑担子进入这城的城门，并且守安息日为圣日，在那日不作任何工作；这样，就必有坐大卫王位的列王，并有众领袖随着，进入这城的城门；列王和众领袖乘着车，骑着马，跟犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民一同进入这城。这城必永远有人居住。必有人从犹大的各城和耶路撒冷周围的各处，从便雅悯地、低地、山地和南地而来；他们带着燔祭、平安祭、素祭、乳香和感恩祭到耶和华的殿里去。但如果你们不听从我，不守安息日为圣日，仍在安息日挑担子，进入耶路撒冷的城门；这样，我就必在耶路撒冷的各城门点起火来，烧毁耶路撒冷的堡垒，没有人能够扑灭。”

就回去预备香料和香膏。安息日，她们遵着诫命安息。

六日要工作，但第七日是你们的圣日，要归耶和华为休息的安息日。凡是在这日工作的，必须把他处死。

“要记念安息日，守为圣日。六日要劳碌，作你一切工作。但第七日是耶和华你的神的安息日；这一日，你和你的儿女，你的仆婢和牲畜，以及住在你城里的寄居者，不可作任何的工。因为耶和华在六日之内造天、地、海和其中的万物，第七日就歇息了；所以耶和华赐福安息日，定为圣日。

这样看来，为了神的子民，必定另外有一个“安息日”的安息保留下来。

这是我和以色列人中间永远的记号，因为六日之内耶和华创造了天地，但第七日就歇了工休息了。”

所以你们应该守安息日，因为这是你们的圣日；凡是违反这日的，必要把他处死；凡是在这日工作的，那人必要从他的族人中被剪除。

以色列人在旷野的时候，有一个人在安息日捡柴。遇见他捡柴的人，就把他带到摩西、亚伦和全体会众那里。他们把他收在监里，因为要怎样办他，还未明朗。耶和华对摩西说：“那人必须处死，全体会众要在营外用石头把他打死。”于是全体会众把他拉出营外，用石头把他打死，正如耶和华吩咐摩西的。

主耶和华这样说：“内院朝东的门，在工作的六天里，必须关闭，在安息日却要打开，在月朔之日也要打开。

会堂的主管，因为耶稣在安息日治病，就气忿忿地对群众说：“有六天是应当作工的，你们可以在这六天里来求医，但在安息日却不可以。”

六天你们可以收取，但第七天是安息日，在那一天什么都没有了。”

这是你们完全休歇的安息日，并要刻苦己心；从这月初九晚上，到次日晚上，你们要守安息日。”
