“ Make an atonement cover of pure gold— two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.

“ Make its cover out of pure gold. The cover is the place where sin will be paid for. Make it three feet nine inches long and two feet three inches wide.

“ You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth.

“ Then make the Ark’s cover— the place of atonement— from pure gold. It must be 45 inches long and 27 inches wide.

Make a mercy seat of pure gold, forty-five inches long and twenty-seven inches wide.

“ And you shall make an atoning cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.

“ You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold; two and a half cubits shall be its length and a cubit and a half its width.

And thou shalt make a mercy- seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

Make a mercy seat of pure gold, 45 inches long and 27 inches wide.

“ You are to make an atonement lid of pure gold; its length is to be three feet nine inches, and its width is to be two feet three inches.

Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now. (niv)

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (niv)

He is to take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the Lord and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense and take them behind the curtain.He is to put the incense on the fire before the Lord, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die.He is to take some of the bull’s blood and with his finger sprinkle it on the front of the atonement cover; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the atonement cover.“ He shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and take its blood behind the curtain and do with it as he did with the bull’s blood: He shall sprinkle it on the atonement cover and in front of it. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood— to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— (niv)

He took the tablets of the covenant law and placed them in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it. (niv)

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. (niv)

Put the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law in the Most Holy Place. (niv)

Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its storerooms, its upper parts, its inner rooms and the place of atonement. (niv)
