約書亞把他們從約旦河取來的那十二塊石頭立在吉甲，

約書亞把這些話寫在神的律法書上，又拿一塊大石頭立在橡樹下耶和華聖所的旁邊。約書亞對眾百姓說：「看哪，這石頭可以向我們作見證，因為它聽見了耶和華所吩咐我們的一切話；這石頭將向你們作見證，免得你們背叛你們的神。」

那些被認為是教會柱石的雅各、磯法、約翰知道神所賜給我的恩典，就跟我和巴拿巴握右手以示合作，同意我們往外邦人那裏去，他們往受割禮的人那裏去。

你要為我築一座土壇，在上面獻牛羊為燔祭和平安祭。凡在我叫你記念我名的地方，我必到那裏賜福給你。你若為我築一座石壇，不可用鑿過的石頭，因為你在石頭上動了工具，就使壇污穢了。你不可用臺階上我的壇，免得露出你的下體來。』」

以色列人就照約書亞所吩咐的做了。他們按以色列人支派的數目，從約旦河中取了十二塊石頭，正如耶和華所吩咐約書亞的。他們把石頭帶過去，到他們所住宿的地方，就放在那裏。約書亞另外把十二塊石頭立在約旦河的中間，在抬約櫃祭司的腳站立的地方；直到今日，石頭還在那裏。

城牆有十二個根基，根基上有羔羊十二使徒的名字。

這些寶石要有以色列十二個兒子的名字，如同刻印章，每一顆有自己的名字，代表十二個支派。
