玛拿西引诱犹大和耶路撒冷的居民行恶，比耶和华在以色列人面前所灭的列国更严重。

他作王第八年，尚且年轻，就寻求他祖先大卫的上帝。到了十二年，他开始洁净犹大和耶路撒冷，除掉丘坛、亚舍拉、雕刻的像和铸造的像。众人在他面前拆毁诸巴力的坛，砍断坛上高高的香坛，又把亚舍拉和雕刻的像，以及铸造的像打碎成灰，撒在向偶像献祭之人的坟上，把祭司的骸骨烧在他们的坛上，洁净了犹大和耶路撒冷。他又在玛拿西、以法莲、西缅、拿弗他利各城和四围的废墟，拆毁祭坛，把亚舍拉和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍断以色列全地所有的香坛。于是他回耶路撒冷去了。

你不只效法她们的行为，照她们可憎的事去做，不消多时，你所做的一切就比她们更恶。

你们要用火焚烧他们神明的雕刻偶像；不可贪爱偶像上的金银，也不可私自收起来，免得你因此陷入圈套，因为这是耶和华—你上帝所憎恶的。你不可把可憎之物带进你的家，否则，你就像它一样成为当毁灭的。你要彻底憎恨它，极其厌恶它，因为这是当毁灭的。”

邪僻的事，我都不摆在我眼前；悖逆的人所做的事，我甚恨恶，不容沾在我身上。

他将他们所铸的牛犊用火焚烧，磨得粉碎，撒在水面上，叫以色列人喝。

你要拆毁他们的祭坛，打碎他们的柱像，砍断他们的亚舍拉。不可敬拜别神，因为耶和华是忌邪的上帝，他的名是忌邪者。

他行耶和华眼中看为恶的事，效法耶和华在以色列人面前赶出的列国那些可憎的事。

反倒与列国相交，学习他们的行为，事奉他们的偶像，这就成了自己的圈套。他们把自己的儿女祭祀鬼魔，流无辜人的血，就是自己儿女的血，用他们祭祀迦南的偶像，那地就被血玷污了。
