Jethro, Moses’ father in law, now came to visit Moses in the wilderness. He brought Moses’ wife and two sons with him, and they arrived while Moses and the people were camped near the mountain of God.

摩西正在牧養他岳父米甸祭司葉忒羅的羊羣：他把羊羣領到曠野的西邊，到了上帝的山、就是何烈山。

上帝說：『我一定和你同在：你將人民從埃及領出來以後，你們要在這山上事奉上帝：這就給你做憑證是我差遣了你。』

永恆主的榮耀停於西乃山，那雲彩把山遮蓋了六天；第七天永恆主從雲中呼召摩西。永恆主之榮耀的形狀、在以色列人眼前、就像燒燬東西的火在山頂上。

要豫備好了、來赴第三天，因為第三天永恆主要在眾民眼前降臨在西乃山上。

永恆主降臨在西乃山、臨到那山頂上；永恆主召摩西上山頂，摩西就上去。

他就起來，就喫，就喝，仗着這飲食的力量、就走了四十晝四十夜，直走到上帝的山何烈。
