摩西就把她們的請求呈到耶和華面前。

那時，因為你們害怕那烈火，沒有到山上去，我就站在耶和華和你們中間，把耶和華的話傳給你們。耶和華說，

約瑟住在他的埃及主人家中，耶和華與他同在，使他凡事亨通。

上帝說：「我必與你同在，你帶百姓離開埃及後，你們必在這座山上事奉我——這將是我派你去的證據。」

去吧！我必賜給你口才，指示你說什麼話。」

摩西對岳父說：「他們是來求問上帝的，

「你們和敵人交戰時，面對比你們強大的軍隊及戰車戰馬，不要害怕，因為你們的上帝耶和華與你們同在，祂曾帶領你們離開埃及。

教導他們遵守我吩咐你們的一切。記住，我必常與你們同在，一直到世界的末了。」

教導智者，他就更有智慧；指教義人，他就更有見識。

於是，摩西接納了岳父的建議，依言而行，

我再次吩咐你，要剛強勇敢！不要害怕，也不要灰心，因為你無論走到哪裡，你的上帝耶和華必與你同在。」

他要替你向百姓說話，做你的發言人，你對他來說就像上帝一樣。

婢女想，我主我王的話必能安慰我，因為我主我王就像上帝的天使一樣能明辨是非。願王的上帝耶和華常與王同在！」
