So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites,“ In the evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of Egypt,

我要以你們作我的人民，我也要作你們的神；你們要知道我是耶和華你們的神，是把你們從埃及人的重擔底下救出來的。

“以色列人的怨言，我已經聽見了。你告訴他們說：‘黃昏的時候你們必吃肉，早晨的時候必有食物吃飽；這樣，你們就知道我耶和華是你們的神了。’”到了晚上，有鵪鶉飛上來，把營都遮蓋了；到了早晨，營的四周有一層露水。

如果耶和華作一件新事，使地開口，把他們和他們所有的都吞下去，叫他們活活地下到陰間，這樣你們就知道這些人是藐視耶和華了。”

摩西說：“由此你們可以知道，我作這一切事，是耶和華派我作的，並不是出於我自己的心意。

那時，他們想起古時的日子，就是摩西和他的人民的日子，說：那把人民和他羊群的牧者從海裡領上來的，在哪裡呢？那把自己的聖靈降在他們中間的，在哪裡呢？那使自己榮耀的膀臂在摩西的右邊行走，那在他們面前把水分開，為要建立永遠的名的，他在哪裡呢？

耶和華對摩西說：“你下山去吧，因為你的人民，就是你從埃及地領出來的，已經敗壞了。

你曾藉著摩西和亞倫的手，帶領你的子民如同帶領羊群一樣。

就在這一天，耶和華按著他們的軍隊，把以色列人從埃及地領出來。

摩西又說：“耶和華晚上必給你們肉吃，早晨必給你們食物吃飽，因為耶和華聽見了你們埋怨他所說的怨言了。我們算甚麼？你們的怨言不是向我們發的，而是向耶和華發的。”

摩西就懇求耶和華他的神施恩，說：“耶和華啊，你為甚麼向你的人民發烈怒呢？這人民是你用大能和全能的手從埃及地領出來的。

以色列人對他們說：“我們寧願在埃及地坐在肉鍋旁邊，吃飯吃到飽的時候，死在耶和華的手裡！你們倒把我們領出來，到這曠野，是要叫這全體會眾餓死啊！”

人民見摩西遲遲不下山，就聚集到亞倫那裡去，對他說：“起來，為我們做神像可以走在我們前頭領路，因為那摩西，就是把我們從埃及地領出來的那個人，我們不知道他遭遇了甚麼事。”
