以色列人對他們說：“我們寧願在埃及地坐在肉鍋旁邊，吃飯吃到飽的時候，死在耶和華的手裡！你們倒把我們領出來，到這曠野，是要叫這全體會眾餓死啊！”

说：“巴不得我们早死在埃及地、耶和华的手下；那时我们坐在肉锅旁边，吃得饱足。你们将我们领出来，到这旷野，是要叫这全会众都饿死啊！”

以色列人对他们说：“我们宁愿在埃及地死在耶和华手中！那时我们坐在肉锅旁，吃饼得饱。你们却将我们领出来，到这旷野，要叫这全会众都饿死啊！”

“我们还不如当初在埃及就死在耶和华手中。在那里，我们至少可以围在肉锅旁吃个饱。现在，你把我们带到旷野来，是要叫全体会众饿死在这里吗？”

願在埃及、死於耶和華手、爾時坐於肉鼎之側、食餅而飽、爾導我入此野、是欲以饑殺斯會眾也、○

曰昔我在埃及有肉盈鼎、有餅果腹、盍乘此時、死於耶和華手、奚導我於野、使會眾饑而死乎、

以色列人謂之曰、願主使我死於伊及地、我在彼有肉盈釜、有餅可飽、何導我於此曠野、使斯眾饑而死乎、

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

The Israelites said to them,“ We wish the Lord had put us to death in Egypt. There we sat around pots of meat. We ate all the food we wanted. But you have brought us out into this desert. You must want this entire community to die of hunger.”

and the people of Israel said to them,“ Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

“ If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned.“ There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by pots of meat and ate all the bread we wanted. Instead, you brought us into this wilderness to make this whole assembly die of hunger!”

The sons of Israel said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger!”

And the children of Israel said to them,“ Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh- pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by pots of meat and ate all the bread we wanted. Instead, you brought us into this wilderness to make this whole assembly die of hunger!”

And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots,[ and] when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this desert to kill this whole assembly with hunger!”

and the children of Israel said to them,“ We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

他們中間的閒雜人起了貪慾，甚至連以色列人也哭著說：“誰給我們肉吃呢？我們記得在埃及的時候，可以不花錢吃魚，還有黃瓜、西瓜、韭菜、蔥和蒜。

那些死於刀下的比餓死的還好；餓死的因缺乏田間的出產，就日漸消瘦而死亡。

人民在那裡渴望得水喝，就向摩西發怨言，說：“你為甚麼把我們從埃及領上來，使我們和我們的兒女，以及我們的牲畜都渴死呢？”

人民與摩西爭鬧，說：“但願我們的兄弟在耶和華面前死去的時候，我們也一同死去！你們為甚麼把耶和華的會眾領到這曠野來，使我們和我們的牲畜都死在這裡呢？你們為甚麼使我們出埃及，領我們到這壞地方來呢？這裡不能撒種，沒有無花果樹、葡萄樹、石榴樹，也沒有水喝。”

因你心裡的懼怕驚恐和你眼中看見的景象，早晨你必說：‘但願現在是晚上！’晚上你必說：‘但願現在是早晨！’

以色列人向摩西和亞倫發怨言；全體會眾都對他們說：“但願我們早死在埃及地，或死在這曠野。

約書亞說：“唉！主耶和華啊，你為甚麼領這人民過約旦河，為要把我們交在亞摩利人的手中，使我們滅亡呢？我們寧願住在約旦河那邊倒好。

你們已經滿足了，已經豐富了，不需要我們，自己作王了。我恨不得你們真的作了王，讓我們也可以跟你們一同作王！

保羅說：“無論時間短也好，時間長也好，我向神所求的，不單是你，而且是今天所有的聽眾，都能像我一樣作基督徒，只是不要有這些鎖鍊。”

他使你受苦，任你飢餓，把你和你的列祖不認識的嗎哪賜給你吃，使你知道人活著，不是單靠食物，更要靠耶和華口裡所出的一切話。

日出的時候，神又安排炎熱的東風。烈日曬在約拿的頭上，以致發昏，他就為自己求死，說：“我死了比活著還好。”神問約拿：“你因這棵蓖麻這樣發怒，對不對呢？”約拿說：“我發怒以至於死都是對的。”

王悲慟得全身發抖，就上城樓去哀哭。他一面走一面這樣說：“我兒押沙龍啊！我兒，我兒押沙龍啊！但願我替你死。押沙龍啊！我兒，我兒啊！”（本節在《馬索拉文本》為19:1）

過了很久，埃及王死了。以色列人在捆鎖中歎息，他們就呼求，在捆鎖中的呼求達到神那裡。

就對他們說：“願耶和華鑒察你們，審判你們，因為你們使我們的香氣在法老眼前和他的臣僕眼前都發臭了，把刀放在他們的手裡來殺我們。”

你既然這樣待我，如果我在你面前蒙恩，求你把我殺了，免得我看見自己的苦楚。”

願我生的那一天受咒詛！願我母親生我的那一天不蒙祝福！那向我父親報喜信：“你得了一個男孩”，叫我父親十分高興的，願那人受咒詛！願那人像耶和華所傾覆而不顧惜的城市，願他早晨聽見哀號，午間聽見戰爭的吶喊。因為他沒有使我死於母腹，好使我的母親成了我的墳墓，我永遠留在母腹中。我為甚麼要出母胎，經歷勞苦和憂傷，並且我的年日都消逝在羞辱之中呢？

你把我們從流奶與蜜的地帶上來，要在曠野殺死我們，這算小事嗎？你還要自立為王管轄我們嗎？

為甚麼有光明賜給勞碌的人，有生命賜給苦命的人呢？

後來，約伯開口咒詛自己的生日。

因為那夜沒有把我母胎的門關閉，也沒有把苦難隱藏，使我看不見。

請你們容忍我這一點點的愚昧，其實你們本來就是容忍我的。

他們也不問：‘那領我們從埃及地上來，引導我們走過曠野，走過荒漠有深坑之地、乾旱死蔭之地、無人經過、無人居住之地的耶和華在哪裡呢？’

第二天，以色列全體會眾都向摩西和亞倫發怨言，說：“你們害死了耶和華的子民。”
