The people murmured against Moses, saying,“ What shall we drink?”

民怨摩西曰、我將何飲、

民怨摩西、曰、我將何飲。

民怨摩西曰、我儕將何飲、

So the people grumbled against Moses, saying,“ What are we to drink?”

The people told Moses they weren’t happy with him. They said,“ What are we supposed to drink?”

And the people grumbled against Moses, saying,“ What shall we drink?”

Then the people complained and turned against Moses.“ What are we going to drink?” they demanded.

The people grumbled to Moses,“ What are we going to drink?”

So the people grumbled at Moses, saying,“ What are we to drink?”

And the people complained against Moses, saying,“ What shall we drink?”

And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

The people grumbled to Moses,“ What are we going to drink?”

And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

So the people murmured against Moses, saying,“ What can we drink?”

The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

They said to Moses,“ Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt?

Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Moses said,“ Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”Moses said to Aaron,“ Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel,‘ Come close to Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’”

Yahweh said to Moses,“ Put back the rod of Aaron before the covenant, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their complaining against me, that they not die.”

The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger burned; and Yahweh’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.The name of that place was called Taberah, because Yahweh’s fire burned among them.The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said,“ Who will give us meat to eat?We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”

But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and against Aaron, saying,“ You have killed Yahweh’s people!”

Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.

Yes, they spoke against God. They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”

Do all things without complaining and arguing,

The people spoke against God and against Moses:“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against Yahweh! What is Aaron that you complain against him?”

There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying,“ We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh!Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”

All the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!Why does Yahweh bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be captured or killed! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return into Egypt?”They said to one another,“ Let’s choose a leader, and let’s return into Egypt.”

These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts— and their mouth speaks proud things— showing respect of persons to gain advantage.

The people were thirsty for water there; so the people murmured against Moses, and said,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”Moses cried to Yahweh, saying,“ What shall I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
