When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,“ What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”

The king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped. Then Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them. They said,“ What have we done? We’ve let the people of Israel go! We’ve lost our slaves and all the work they used to do for us!”

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said,“ What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

When word reached the king of Egypt that the Israelites had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds.“ What have we done, letting all those Israelite slaves get away?” they asked.

他使敵人的心轉去恨他的百姓，用詭計待他的僕人。

倘若他們因認識我們的主和救主耶穌基督而得以脫離世上的污穢，後來又被污穢纏住，被制伏，他們末後的景況就比先前更不好了。他們知道義路，竟背棄了傳授給他們那神聖的誡命，倒不如不知道為妙。俗語說得好，這話正印證在他們身上了：「狗轉過來吃自己所吐的；」又說：「豬洗淨了，又回到爛泥裏打滾。」

「污靈離了人身，走遍無水之地尋找安歇之處，卻找不到。就說：『我要回到我原來的屋裏去。』他到了，看見裏面打掃乾淨，修飾好了，就去另帶了七個比自己更惡的靈來，都進去住在那裏。那人後來的景況比先前更壞了。」

所有前來立約的領袖和眾百姓都順從，各人釋放自己的僕人和婢女，使他們得自由，不再叫他們作奴僕。大家都順從，將僕婢釋放了。但後來他們又反悔，叫被釋放得自由的僕人婢女回來，強迫他們仍為僕婢。因此耶和華的話臨到耶利米，說：「耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：我將你們祖先從埃及地為奴之家領出時，與他們立約說：『你的一個希伯來弟兄若賣給你，服事你六年，到第七年你們各人就要釋放他自由出去。』只是你們祖先不聽我，不側耳而聽。如今你們回轉，行我眼中看為正的事，各人向鄰舍宣告自由，並且在我面前、在稱為我名下的殿中立約。你們卻反悔，褻瀆我的名，各人叫所釋放得自由的僕人婢女回來，強迫他們仍為僕婢。所以耶和華如此說：你們不聽從我，各人不向弟兄鄰舍宣告自由。看哪！我要向你們宣告自由，把你們自由地交給刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫，並且使地上萬國因你們而驚駭。這是耶和華說的。

埃及人催促百姓趕快離開那地，因為埃及人說：「我們都快死了。」
