“你们不可照以前一样提供草给百姓做砖，要叫他们自己去捡草。他们平时做砖的数目，你们仍旧向他们要，一点不可减少，因为他们是懒惰的，所以才呼求说：‘让我们去向我们的神献祭。’你们要把更重的工作加在这些人身上，使他们在其中劳碌，不去理会谎言。”监工和工头出来对百姓说：“法老这样说：‘我不给你们草，你们自己在哪里能找到草，就往哪里去找吧！但你们的工作一点也不可减少。’”于是，百姓分散在埃及全地，捡碎秸当草用。监工催逼他们，说：“你们每天要做完一天的工，与先前有草一样。”法老的监工击打他们所派的以色列工头，说：“为什么昨天和今天你们没有按照以前做砖的数目，完成你们的工作呢？”以色列人的工头来哀求法老说：“为什么这样待你的仆人呢？监工不把草给仆人，并且对我们说：‘做砖吧！’看哪，你仆人挨了打，其实是你百姓的错。”法老却说：“懒惰，你们真是懒惰！所以你们说：‘让我们去向耶和华献祭吧。’现在，去做工吧！草是不会给你们，砖却要如数交纳。”以色列人的工头听见“你们每天做砖的工作一点也不可减少”，就知道惹上祸了。他们离开法老出来，正遇见摩西和亚伦站在那里等候他们，就向他们说：“愿耶和华鉴察你们，施行判断，因为你们使我们在法老和他臣仆面前有了臭名，把刀递在他们手中来杀我们。”

我必将这杯递在苦待你的人手中。他们曾对你说：‘你屈身，任我们践踏过去吧！’你就以背为地，又如街道，任人走过。

拿娥米对她们说：“不要叫我拿娥米，要叫我玛拉，因为全能者使我受尽了苦。

你们可以把他们遗留给你们后代的子孙，作为永远继承的产业；你们可以使他们作奴仆。至于你们的弟兄以色列人，你们彼此不可苛刻管辖。

“我是耶和华—你的神，曾将你从埃及地为奴之家领出来。

埃及人恶待我们，迫害我们，将苦工加在我们身上。

我的百姓既是白白地被掳，如今我在这里做什么呢？这是耶和华说的。辖制他们的人欢呼，我的名终日不断受亵渎，这是耶和华说的。

耶和华对亚伯兰说：“你要确实知道，你的后裔必寄居在别人的地，服事那地的人；那地的人要虐待他们四百年。

他们在愤怒中连连攻击万民，在怒气中辖制列国，逼迫他们，毫不留情。

你们躺卧在羊圈，好像鸽子的翅膀镀银，翎毛镀金一般。

你要打水预备受困；要加强防御，取土踹泥，做成砖模。

万军之耶和华如此说：“以色列人和犹大人一同受欺压；凡掳掠他们的都紧紧抓住他们，不肯释放。他们的救赎主大有能力，万军之耶和华是他的名。他必定为他们伸冤，使全地得享平静；他却要搅扰巴比伦的居民。”

他和买主同住，要像按年雇用的工人，买主不可苛刻管辖他。

不可苛刻管辖他，只要敬畏你的神。

耶和华将你们从埃及带领出来，脱离铁炉，是要你们成为他产业的子民，像今日一样。

你们吃我百姓的肉，剥他们的皮，打断他们的骨头，如切块下锅，如釜中的肉。
