耶和華使祂的子民生養眾多，比他們的仇敵還要強盛。

我們知道，上帝使萬事互相效力，使那些愛上帝，就是上帝按自己的旨意呼召的人得益處。

因為彼得和約翰宣講藉著耶穌死人可以復活，他們非常惱怒，下令拘捕二人，因天色已晚，就把他們扣押了一夜。但有許多聽道的人信了，男人的數目約有五千人。

對他的百姓說：「你們看，以色列人比我們多，又比我們強。

因為主管教祂所愛的人，責罰祂收納的兒子。」你們要忍受管教，上帝對待你們如同對待自己的兒子。哪有兒子不受父親管教的呢？做子女的都會受管教，如果沒人管教你們，那你們就是私生子，不是兒子。再者，我們的生身父親管教我們，我們尚且敬重他們，何況是萬靈之父上帝管教我們，我們豈不更要順服祂並得到生命嗎？我們的生身父親是按自己以為好的標準暫時管教我們，但上帝是為了我們的益處而管教我們，使我們可以在祂的聖潔上有份。被管教的滋味絕不好受，當時都很痛苦，但事後那些受過管教的人會收穫公義和平安的果子。

「我們不是嚴禁你們奉耶穌的名去教導百姓嗎？你們竟然在耶路撒冷各處傳道，還想把殺那人的血債歸到我們身上！」彼得和其他使徒申辯說：「我們要服從的是上帝，而非人。你們釘死在十字架上的耶穌，我們祖先的上帝已經使祂復活了。上帝把祂提升到自己的右邊，立祂為君王和救主，好賜給以色列人悔改的機會，使他們的罪得到赦免。我們就是這些事的見證人，上帝賜給順服祂之人的聖靈也同樣做見證。」他們聽了，怒氣衝天，打算殺掉使徒。

法利賽人彼此議論說：「我們真是枉費心思！你看，整個世界都跟著祂跑了。」

任何智慧、悟性和謀略，都不能對抗耶和華。

憤恨害死愚昧人，嫉妒殺死無知者。

暴怒固然殘酷，憤恨好比狂瀾，然而嫉妒更是無人能敵。
